5 Minutes with: Maternity Blogger Sarah of I am Fabulicious
We love Sarah Berryman's blog 'I am fabulicious' over here at Kate Thomas Maternity so when we heard she was expecting, we couldn't wait to to see how she was going to style her way through her first pregnancy. We caught up with her this week to get the low-down.
KT: What is your maternity staple?
SB: Anything that stretches! I cannot stand being confined in tight clothes, especially as my bump grows throughout the day, from eating and drinking - if my clothes weren't stretchy and comfy, by the end of the day I feel squashed into them like a sausage!
KT: What is your favourite piece from the Kate Thomas Maternity collection?
SB: The Kate Thomas Dotty Dress With Contrast Sleeves. It’s smart enough for work but also cute enough to wear on a night out. The gorgeous sheer sleeves hide a multitude of sins and make the dress look that bit more special. The shape of the neckline and empire line cut helps to show off your bump while persevering your modesty! It’s a great all rounder.
KT: How would you style Kate Thomas Maternity for your pregnancy?
SB: The dresses are so unique and stunning little needs to be done to style them further in my opinion. With the body con dresses, a chunky necklace would looks stunning, and i would pair some of the wrap dresses with pretty pumps and a chunky bracelet.
KT: What is your favourite thing about being pregnant?
SB: I love feeling my little one moving and kicking me. You can be having a really rubbish day then all of a sudden you’ll feel a little nudge (or more often than not a full on kick) and it just makes you smile. It’s something no one else knows is happening, it’s just between you and your baby and its lovely!
KT: What is your top maternity style tip?
SB: Don’t lose who you are just because you have a growing bump. You can still dress the way you used to and hang on to your own personal style with a few simple tweaks and changes along the way!
KT: How has your personal style changed since you became pregnant?
SB: My personal style hasn't changed all that much. I'm still big on feeling comfortable and if this means wearing a lot of leggings and empire line dresses that skim my bump, that’s what I'm going to wear!
KT: Who is your maternity style crush?
SB: I loved Jessica Alba’s maternity look; she always looked so polished and stunning and yet also, comfortable.
KT: How did/have you prepare for your maternity style transition?
SB: I didn't prepare at all and ended up needing the help of my sister and my mum to make suggestions for how to style my growing bump so that I still recognised the person in the mirror and felt confident in the way I looked! Sometimes its good to get other peoples opinions on your style as they may see something you may not have.
KT: What are you most looking forward to about becoming a mummy?
SB: I'm looking forward to meeting this little person who will change my life forever, seeing what they are like as an individual and helping them to grow into a well rounded and happy person.
