I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER (2016), de Billy O'Brien. Max Records, aquel encantador niño incomprendido que protagonizó la maravillosa "Donde viven los Monstruos", de Spike Jonze, encarna en esta ocasión a John Wayne Cleaver, personaje central de "I am not a serial killer", la adaptación cinematográfica de la novela firmada por Dan Wells que se sitúa en un pequeño y frío pueblo de los Estados Unidos que repentinamente se ve asolado por una oleada de extrañas y sangrientas muertes; en ese hostil entorno, el homónimo del gran actor de westerns norteamericanos es un adolescente con una inusual fascinación por los asesinos seriales que, al tiempo, lucha diariamente contra sus instintos sociopáticos para no convertirse en uno de ellos. John decide poner en marcha la búsqueda personal del responsable de las muertes en el pueblo, pero en el camino se encuentra con la posibilidad de descubrir que él podría ser mucho peor que el enemigo que está buscando. La adaptación del guión corrió a cargo del mismo director junto con Christopher Hyde y ambos logran dar forma un fascinante híbrido de thriller, terror y ciencia ficción con un ritmo narrativo pausado pero confiando en la calidad de la historia para cautivar y anclar al espectador al asiento. Don’t hit that snooze button, it’s time for our #sleptonsaturday pick where we feature movies you might have missed. Today’s Slept On Saturday pick is the 2016 film I Am Not a Serial Killer. This stars Max Records (from Unbreakable and Where the Wild Things Are) who is a teenager with homicidal tendencies. He is able to keep them at bay but when murders start to pop up in his town, he begins to become obsessed with his odd neighbor played by the one and only Christopher Lloyd. This blends psychological horror with creatures and has a low budget indie vibe to it that I really loved. It’s far from flashy but has a story that keeps you hooked and some great acting. I don’t usually do matte lipsticks because I find them too drying. But with a pop of gloss, this one is totally wearable. ⚜️ My Tetley English Breakfast tea is not pictured, because I polished off the pot before I had a chance. I saw this book at work, it sounded so good and I almost bought it but decided to rent the audiobook from the library. Well when I was redoing my book case turns out I had it. It's so good! And I relate to John in some ways.
