Langst tag: Lance left his meeting with Keith in episode 3.06 on a downer, because Keith did nothing to allay his fears that he is the worst Paladin.
Me: Keith cares about Voltron's mission more than anyone except Allura. The only way he'd feel comfortable stepping aside so Lance could pilot Red in his stead is if he trusted Lance to do as good of a job as he does. But Lance will never know this and take it as the reassurance it is, because Keith doesn't words good.
