Hi! I'm a Canadian who lived in the UK for two years (and brought my two cats with me). My cats have always been and always will be pure indoor cats. While in the UK, roaming cats always came into the yard and on the fence, staring so hard at my cats, especially this one cat with freaky eyes. Finally, it scared one of my cats so badly that she attacked my other cat. It took WEEKS for me to get them to trust each other again, they were both so traumatized.

:( That's awful!!! One of my friends brought that up as a potential consequence of my situation too, even though Shilo didn't get hurt this time. It's fuckin' bullshit when other people being shitty owners messes things up for those of us who do our best to be good owners. I hope your kitties are all good with each other again, they're lucky to have you. ♥ (Also yeah, so never living in the UK. Most I'll do is visit Scotland, to see my online partner.)

Hey, there! I’ve been following your blog awhile and love all that you do. It’s so informative and I’m sure there are animals out there living better lives because of your hard work.

You can find often find cheaper bettas bred locally by checking out betta groups on FB. :) But, yeah, Bumble Bee seems to be a new name for yellow and black marbles, aka yellow koi.

True, if you have an active group near you, check that too. (unfortunately all the ones near me seem inactive) but petcos start to carry yellow kois? hnnnnnng I was already tempted by the normal kois

So I gt this little guy yesterday.  I’ve been tempted on several bettas for a while now, but I couldn’t resist anymore because he was too pretty (these photos don’t do his colors justice).

I have him in a 24 gallon heated tank and he seems to have adapted just fine.  Healthy appetite, super interested in exploring the enrichment items I have in there for him, and just overall a really animated fish (loves to follow you as you walk around the outside of the aquarium).

Overall he’s acting fine but I’ve just noticed a few things that have me worried. @iantojonesthebetta​  Sorry to bug you, been following you for some time now and I really appreciate the advice you give out on these guys, but I’m a little worried if he appears sick to you?

I haven’t seen him flair his fins yet, they mostly stay folded in like the are in the photos, and I only just saw that several of his scales appear to be black in places?  I don’t remember seeing them like that when I first got him, but I don’t see how they could have just appeared overnight...

If you could help me out, any advice would be greatly appreciated!  I hope I’m not overreacting but I’m worried for parasites etc and I want to do something now before it gets any worse if it is something.

But transgender people also shouldn't have to out themselves as transgender? We should be able to use male or female if we feel that fits, too.

That will continue to be allowed. The X option is not being forced onto transgender or non binary Canadians. It is just an option for those that do not identify as male or female.
