this scene is like 2 minutes but there is SO MUCH going on and I love it
#opera#opera tag#L’Aiglon#Honegger#Ibert#Arthur Honegger#Jacques Ibert#basically this Schönbrunn valet is actually a French Napoleonic veteran#and he’s mindfucking with the Prince Metternich to make him think that Napoleon Bonaparte (who is long dead) is going to walk into the roo#but it’s Napoleon II (aka L’Aiglon) who has been held hostage in the palace since basically forever instead#and Metternich (who genuinely got freaked) is like ‘...thank fuck’#and then the valet jumps out of a fucking window in order to escape the situation#and then some soldier shoots at him but misses and L’Aiglon is like ‘HAHAHA YOU MISSED’ and it’s fucking hilarious#this scene is so fucking chaotic I love it
