Day Nine: Flashbacks
Summary: Ibrahim isn’t completely recovered from his assault.
I am deeply saddened that Ibrahim Arif does not exist.
You heard them Hudson. Chop chop.
INCONTINENT?!?! Oh Gandhi.
That’s a wee bit of a mouthful isn’t it?
Understandable.
After watching the Netflix film, I’ve been re-reading chapters of The Thursday Murder Club, especially because I’ve not read the first book since it was published in 2020.
I feel that the 2-hour film format of this adaptation is the main cause for its shortcomings. There are just so many little scenes that are missing that I feel are crucial to the plot progression and character engagement. Most definitely, in the case of the latter, the supporting characters are barely explored.
It would have been better as a multi-episode limited series the way Anthony Horowitz’s Susan Ryeland books have been adapted.
Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the Netflix film and hope they consider making film sequels of the subsequent books in the series!
