EGG FAST DAY 1
(Skip down the the bottom paragraph to see my thoughts on my meals today) So as I mentioned in my last post, to kick start my ketosis, I'm doing a 3-5 day (depending on how I feel/how many eggs I can take) egg fast from the "ibreathimhungry" website and then I'll slowly transition into regular Keto. I did modified fat fasts before (80% or more fat for 2-5 days) to help kickstart, but my macros always got messed up, or I just had a really hard time following it. Also, my car is in the shop so I need recipes/ingredients I can buy in bulk that's cheap but also easy to make (like a few ingredients, nothing fancy). But the meals also have to excite me or be extremely filling especially since I'm coming off a huge 4 month carb binge from France. And that's where the egg fast seemed to fit in nicely. It's structured, it's cheap, it's simple, and it fits my macros perfectly. Let me be clear in saying that I AM NOT DOING THIS LONGTERM. I need something extremely structured. In France because of the culture and the food quality combined, I didn't feel the need to stuff myself of binge. But literally as soon as I came home, my binging began. When carbs are involved here, I can't stop. I have eaten to the point of severe pain before as well as the carbs here even when eaten in small quantities often make me ill. But with Keto I don't feel the need to binge as often or as bad if I do. But right now I'm really struggling with temptation, and having too many options with Keto (since I've done it before, I know a lot of recipes and treats) isn't always a good thing when you're lacking self control in the beginning. The first time I did Keto, I only knew a few recipes or foods, so I stuck to the basics, and once I got a handle of it, I had the control to not go crazy. I need to do that again. I needed structure, just to get me started. So anyway, today went great! I'll post my meals, macros, etc in another post. But for now, I'll just say how I felt. Let begin by saying that eggs and me have always had a complicated relationship. One day I love them, and then I hate them for months. So I was a little concerned I wouldn't even make it past the first day. First meal was basically fried over easy eggs in olive oil and some bulletproof coffee (sans heavy cream bc it's against the rules on the fast). Wasn't that bad, usually I like over easy eggs for breakfast occasionally but wasn't exactly craving it this particular morning. Then I had a sharp cheddar stick. Nice that I can have a different thing other than eggs haha. Wasn't really wasn't hungry for lunch, but I decided I needed to eat it. Lunch was egg salad, but I modified it to include less mayo and half an avocado (for the whole batch, I made 3 servings to last me for a few days) because I had an avocado that needed using and I'm very sensitive to not having much potassium on low carb. Still fit in perfectly into my macros. I also made a sandwich hard shell out of shredded cheddar in the microwave. Then cue in some Colby jack cheese stick for a snack later on. (I also had a cup of chicken broth to help the Keto flu I had coming on.) Then for dinner, I really really wasn't hungry, but I didn't want to eat too little so I made the last dish on the plan, a buffalo cream cheese stuffed omelette. This was the one dish I was NOT looking forward to. I'm an adventurous eater, but I'm picky what I have eggs on/with, and I never had eggs with hot sauce or cream cheese. But by golly, it was freakin delicious. Definitely it will make again even after this fast ends. So that ends the day. I wasn't really hungry and the fact that the ibreathimhungry plan changes it up every meal definitely helps keep away egg fatigue. So here's to to tomorrow!
