Warning: anonymous internet rant about feelings
Am I the only one who has felt really bad for really liking a specific ship, but not in the way it is commonly interpreted thus severely limiting the the fan material available to enjoy?
Not that I dislike those who prefer the specific interpretation that I, for some reason, can't stand.
But I get a dissatisfied feeling concerning the fandom in general that just ruins my experiences. Even though everyone is nice and respectful, they encourage people to express themselves and to speak out because it is a community built on a shared interest. I just feel like I don't get the fandom, we like the same things, but we don't.
I feel defensive of my specific interpretation of the ship and then I feel shameful for my extreme reaction to something everyone is trying to enjoy.

Me and my art to ship non canon couples
Ichirukia (I really thought that this would be canon, like, they had it right there! The kid fought the whole soul society just to save her, and she was right there, beside him, fighting with him shoulder to shoulder)
Dramione (yes, they don't have lots of interactions but tell me that it wouldn't be beautiful to see a redemption arc to Draco where Hermione help him heal, and they fall in love, and got married, and that would be the final statement of the end of mud blood/pure blood hate)
Kacchako ('cause yes, I think they can bring the best of each other, if not as a couple at least as besties, I mean, he call her by her name for crying out loud)
Zutara (after last season I thought they would be canon too. Let's face it, there's not a single 14 y/o girl in this world who would actually prefer a 12 y/o over Zuko, and I mean none. Aang was like her best friend. And since Zuko got her necklace everybody kept asking if that belonged to her girlfriend... RIGHT FUCKING THERE)
Karmanami (They are hell out of cute together. Plus, they gave us so little, yet so beautiful moments together)
Nagikae (After that kiss? Yeah, sure, I'm gonna ship them with someone else)
Okikagu (Do I need to explain something here? Do I? As far as I concern they grew up and got married in a wedding that ended up in a fight club)
I have a lot more, but the thing they all have in common is: that none of them are canon.
