Even though I'm pretty shit at Kannada, I've always really liked all the Sahithya Sangama chapters because they're all very well written and or entertaining, and also cuz very explicitly deal with issues like class struggle, poverty, capitalism etc
I'm studying Kalavida/ಕಲಾವಿದ and it makes me so sad,, An artist who's well revered in acting and dance so much so that the whole nation knows his name, has his art looked on as a commodity and something to profit off of rather than someone real. His manager only sucks up to him before performances, the same people who clapped for him don't even want to look at him when passing him by on the street. Despite being famous nation-wide he doesn't have a paise to his name.
