every good expedition needs caffeine...
Ahhhh, adventures! So many adventures!
Of the many good things that come from getting a proper job – paycheck, security, active stimulation of one’s brain – one of the best is the alleviation of guilt spent doing fun things when you (in the best Marge Simpson voice) “should be looking for work”. So, soon after starting at the festival, knowing that I could pay it off, my credit card took a hammering as I planned expeditions and booked planes, trains and automobiles to here, there and everywhere.
Over the last couple of months there has been snow shoeing and log cabins in rural Ontario, frozen canals and national galleries in Ottawa, smoked meats and sugar shacks in Montreal, road trips and cocktails in Boston, and mustangs and coconuts in Miami.
And, with the glorious help of the world wide web, I’ve been able to include good coffee on all these adventures.
Afterall, every good expedition needs caffeine...
Lattes and snowflakes at Espresso Post in Collingwood
Kitsch cups and flat whites at I Deal Coffee in Ottawa
Bagels, everything else is superfluous, at St-Viateur Bagels in Montreal
Algorithms and cortados at 1369 Coffee House in Cambridge, Boston
Mojitos and short blacks in Little Havana, Miami
With the festival in less than a month the adventures will go on hold for a while (well, non-Toronto based ones anyway, there are plenty to be had here!) but come July there are so many more to be had. Perhaps this time of the summer variety, I see a cottage and quality lake time in my future…
(Nb. How wonderful is the word “expedition”? Not said enough)
