Condiment Adopted A Laboratory Animal Today
The above is what laboratory animal testing looks like. Most envision rats and rabbits, which in itself doesn’t make it okay, and most erroneously believe it is how medicine advances, and how medical, household and beauty products are able to be ‘safe’ and ‘effective’ for humans.
But that’s not actually not really true. Some facts:
98% of medical drugs and treatments fail and often harm humans in human trials after animal testing.
Studies have shown that regardless of harming animals in animal testing, a great number of products are released on the market for human use anyhow.
There are no laws in the United States that require animal testing of beauty or household products -- and even if there were, every single raw material and finished product on the market have been in use by humans for decades in addition to having been previously animal tested before being available on the market.
Animal testing is illegal in all of the European Union, Israel, Norway, and India with Brazil, the United States and Australia considering it as it is not truly statistically proven effective, and more effective methods for testing including and particularly in medicine have been developed.
Corporations mainly continue to test where it is not required by law to be able to defend themselves in the event that their products harm people.
Most people don’t realize it, but it’s dogs and cats that are predominantly used in animal testing, particularly beagles as they endure the severe abuse better than other breeds due to their gentle nature and willingness to please.
9′s media project, Condiment, adopted an animal being used in animal testing today, a cat that is in the lab at Michigan State University. We named it Sweet Pea. They’ll be sending details about our kitty, and Sweet Pea will get a name instead of the number tattooed on its ear (as how all lab animals are marked). The organization advocate for her release as they do all lab animals.
I do not purchase household or beauty products that are tested on animals if I can help it or am aware that they have been animal tested either, and we don’t feature beauty or household products or companies that are known to test on animals in Condiment either. It’s really easy to make the change, as a ton of brands do not test today. You can find out which do and do not here.
People think it takes a big effort or a lot of money to help animals, people, the environment or change the world, but it’s really the little things that do it.
