When I hear about America’s work culture, how expensive everything is here, healthcare bullshit, our stupidly limited sick time, etc. and how it’s probably not gonna change, I feel a little bit of an existential crisis.

I love history. I love the idea of teaching it. I do NOT love the idea of staying in America if it doesn’t improve itself, though. The problem is, an American history teaching degree (though I’ll be qualified to teach global history) seems fairly useless in most of Europe. Should I give up history and switch to an English and ESL education major before it’s too late so that I actually have a POSSIBILITY to get out? Or should I just keep going with history???

I’m good at both. I love both (history a little bit more). But I’m struggling with whether I want to do what I like more, or pick something a little more flexible so I have a better chance of leaving the US someday. I was already debating switching to an English teaching degree, emigration issues aside. I know I have time (second semester freshman lmao) but I don’t want to make the wrong choice and waste time and money :/
