( ISAC EVENT ) | 402 w. with @idlina + POST-60m SPRINT
loss as it may have been, the rush of competition floods through him still; all that blood makes his face feel warm and his chest even warmer, radiating to his hands and all. for now they’re made to sit at the bench, right near the finish line. cameras line along the track, hoping to get a glimpse of the idols – the women, this time – sprint along the 60-metre stretch of red-and-white. some of the cameras are trained on them, specifically, resting and heaving on the bench and waiting to be dismissed for the next gaggle of idols to pass through so they can be ogled at. there aren’t many who sit next to him, which means more attention. lone targets are always more visible. his manager told him to be on his best behaviour, though, so when a camera pans to him, he pretends not to notice for a beat-and-a-half, then turns, pretends to be surprised, and gives a smile that matches his exhaustion as best it can without seeming like a grimace. they don’t have much time to rest here. maybe they’ll even get a shot of the men and women talking together – and it seems that way when the girls reach the finish line, and they aren’t ushered out just yet.
it’s not that he wants to drag anyone down, but it’s a bad look for him if he doesn’t try to seem friendly and sociable. there has to be someone in the group trying to pull their congeniality weight, and though that isn’t dongwoo’s style, nor is it part of KD’s image, there has to be some sort of effort made to make this painful excursion somewhat worth it. when he sees someone sit down a few spaces away, he makes an effort (painful as it may be for the both of them) to remove the water bottle he purposefully placed in the space between him and the girl, and scooted over to take its place, offering the drink to her. belatedly, he recognises her face, despite all the sweat, not because he’s particularly fond but because one of his group members is, and suddenly it’s worth it to offer the bottle in her direction. “lina-ssi? would you like a drink?” he asks, trying to seem less intimidating than what he’d project on screen, and still keeping some distance between them. “seems like you need one.”
