Rome & Judea Are United Against Christ
A friend was telling me a story about how she helped a gentleman out and he wanted to give her a little bird statue in return and as he was giving it to her he said "this is the God of whatever" and she rejected it and said "I am Christian I don't do engraven images"
And he immediately responded with "But the Catholics pray to Mary"
But the Catholics pray to Mary
This conversation came about through 1 Samuel 4. How the Israelites had built a reputation of slavery. Slavery through those around them instead of destruction, and slavery to their idol worship.
The Philistines were under the belief that they worshiped multiple gods and even through a backwards retelling of God's work in Egypt they credited that to multiple gods.
How are we representing Christ to those around us? When they speak to us or look at us do they see our sin or Christ?
This man was completely under the impression that Christianity equaled worship of Mary. He put prayer to Mary on the same level as his manmade bird statue.
Now I believe that Catholics that genuinely have an honest relationship with God, and know and recognize their Lord as Savior of their sins and that it is only by grace given by God that they are saved.
But there are Catholics that put complete faith and worship in man. Be them dead or alive. And I pray for then to turn to Christ as their Lord not anyone else.
The man also tried to justify his stance as bringing up the linden tree or whatever.
Because my friend is in her word daily, and knows who God is and what his word says she was able to say confidently "That's not in there."
"How do you know that."
"Because I have read His book."
So it is important to read God's Word for yourself. How can you know God unless you seek to know Him? How can you know Him through idol worship???
The Israelites lost both battles horribly, and it was because of two things. One they treated the ark as an idol, placing more power in the object than the God who sat upon it. Thinking that by simply bringing this box into the battle they would win. Two they refused to forsake the idols in their lives.
What in your life are you placing above God? What in your life are you putting faith in more than God? What do you need to wrestle with God over today?

My surroundings have transformed into something else entirely
And I with that too
The initial “hello” feels different reviewed
It was what I read in a book at the West Street Library
It was loss of mystery, a let-down history
Like the first sighting of pornography
I was just a kid back then
Back when I was nine
An eye for space, gaps, and in betweens
An affinity for what’s unseen as told to me
The space between what’s thought and astrology
Between astronomy and birthday month idolatry
Home is houses’ ivy green stretched wildly
Not this dress rehearsal Ivy League
It was the sound of pens flown cross the whitened sea
Screaming till their voices hoarse
Goose bumps made me fail that course
Over and over
Crippled through my arms and chest
But what was once a lantern now is the sun in my forest
Sparks that raise towards the stars, their mother’s breast
Like pupils taking their final test
