I Don’t Miss the Girl Who…
I don’t miss the girl who let people yell at her like it was normal. Who took shots of vodka before brushing her teeth. Who mistook chaos for connection and jealousy for love and thought it was romantic to feel sick over someone.
I don’t miss the way she swallowed her own voice just to stay likable. She was louder back then — more expressive, more magnetic — but it wasn’t honesty, it was performance.
I don’t miss how small she felt in her own skin. How she’d wrap herself in self-loathing like it was earned. How she’d make herself the problem because it was easier than admitting someone didn’t love her well.
I’m proud of her for surviving. But I’m prouder of me now — for trying to leave all that behind.
A new state of mind
For the first time in my life I see the beauty in being alone.I no longer crave someone in my arms or deal with ridiculous bullshit. I no longer cry thinking I'll be alone forever, or question myself for ever leaving. If I'm meant to be with someone it will happen, until then I have found peace .
A random fact: as of the 18th, I’ve been diabetic for seven years. (The 18th also happens to be my ex's birthday. Go figure, huh?)
