#Repost @portal.ido ・・・ Balance is a complex attribute that is comprised of many other smaller attributes. I've often seen people declare 'he has great balance' but judging from one situation in which balance is demonstrated I'd we wary of making such big claims. I've often seen how an elite surfer fails to keep balance in a situation that contains a fixed surface (and hence a different reflex profile) and an uncooperative partner. You'll get a similar issue with placing a fighter on a surfboard or both in Ballet trying to do pirouettes. Good luck! Balance is a HUGE attribute and for those interested to develop a general grasp of it, there is a need of wide and consistent exposure to diverse challenges over years. In the picture I'm working with @thenotoriousmma on yet another balance situation - out of many we've tackled over the last few years, this time specific to the boxing stance and utilizing a partner that tries to challenge the structure in a very specific way. The result, if enough time is devoted to this drill is an understanding of when and where one should CONNECT or DISCONNECT various areas of the body in order not to lose your position. This is not the final progression as balance in fighting is 90% dynamic and allows the repositioning of the points of support. I've been utilizing hundreds of variations over the years to EDUCATE my students about balance. Note the word 'educate' as I believe 'training balance' in its full scoop is an misnomer. #movementculture #boxing #mma #conormcgregor #idoportal #balance
