It was a day of bits and pieces canning! 3 quarts of tomatoes 1 pint of Mexican flavored tomatoes 12-1/2 pints of pizza sauce 11 pints of green beans The tomatoes are finally coming into their own. Still so much to do but the pizza sauce today made a dent. I will take pictures of our pantry soon. They look so pretty when they are filled! This just happened. After 33 years, my jiggler canner bit the dust. The gasket was good and little else could go wrong. Today, I couldn't get it up to pressure. I checked the gasket, soaked it in hot water and oiled it. But after several tries, it still wouldn't pressurize. The locking mechanism in the handle will no longer pop into place and there is no repair. ☹ Kind of excited about my new toy! And I have to make sure I know when they test them annually. That was the joy of the jiggler. Oh well. Time to learn a new trick or two.
