Hi, Fir! What are some other works of interactive fiction you enjoy and would recommend for fans of Viatica and Cantata? :D

Alright, I love this ask! Ok, so these are some of my favorite IFs and ones I continually return to. I greatly enjoy character dynamics, so if you like that aspect in my works, you may like these. 😁

I need to lead with A Tale of Crowns @ataleofcrowns one of the first IFs I ever read and one of the biggest inspirations for me to write my own. Every character is unique—I could romance each and every one. I love all the interactions and dialogue, and the story is unique and incredibly well written.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention a certain slutty waist. 😏 It should come as no surprise that God Cursed @wings-of-ink is one of my faves. Every character, from the ROs to our dads, is incredibly well fleshed out and a joy to read. Highly recommend!

Stygian Sun: Total Eclipse @stygiansun-totaleclipse grabs you in a chokehold from the very beginning and doesn’t let go. The characters and their interactions are unforgettable, as is the story itself.

Softly, Opulent @softlyopulent-if is another chokehold, sucker punch to the gut IF 😭 but so, so good! It just had a rewrite, I believe.

The Abyssal Song @ri-writes-if is another good one with wonderful characters. Every RO is delicious! The amount of branching within each route is extensive, almost like several stories in one. I recommend multiple playthroughs!

Arcadie: Second Born @sofia-d-asb is also one of the first IFs I ever read and one that inspired me greatly.

The entire Crème de la Crème series by @hpowellsmith is excellent, but my absolute favorite of theirs is Royal Affairs.

The Lonely Shore @thelonelyshore-if is another excellent read. I am not a fan of horror but I absolutely love this IF, so that should be testament to how good it is!

College Tennis Origin Story @collegetennisoriginstory has so many good ROs it’s difficult to choose! If you’re drawn to the childhood friend ROs, I highly recommend Sam’s route!

When Life Gives You Lemons @when-life-gives-you-lemons-if is an absolutely lovely read. The romance and spice in this is so good, but it’s also genuinely such a cozy story to read.

Their Majesties’ Pleasure @leiatalon is another great blend of comfy and spice!

Fields of Asphodel @chrysanthemumgames is a lovely read with beautiful characters. If you’re looking for a comfy, feel good read, this is the one.

And if you’re looking for a fun adventure with unique and memorable characters and loads of customization, Party of Four @partyof4game is it!

I know as soon as I hit “post” I’m going to remember a dozen IFs I’ve forgotten to mention. 😭

My Fellow IF Readers... Are We Not Hyped?!

Something that I've only recently realized is just how stacked this month seems to be when it comes to IF updates. And there might even be more that I don't know about, considering I've been too busy typing to browse the community a lot. So, in the event that any of my followers aren't aware of some of these soon to be released/updated IFs I just wanted to bring it to your attention, so here we go:

@midnighthostifs has mentioned putting out chapter 2 of Cold Mountain. They have more than one IF by the way, so check them out for a lot of content!

@costasul-if recently said that they'd be getting out chapter one of their story, they even already have it out for beta testers!

@fleshrevival also said they aim to have their own demo released before the end of June. They're even already going through the code last I checked.

@spies-if already has a release date for the 21st of this month.

Edit: @thistimeitsdifferent--if, I've just been made aware that this fella also plans to release on the 23rd of this month as well!

Another Edit: @benvee this one is dropping tommorow! Get ready!

And then myself. Even though I don't have a solid date right now. So correct me if I'm wrong but that's six different IFs that will likely release this month (And that's only the ones I know of)! They're blogs that have been pushing me to write as incessantly as I have been because the quality of their own projects made me realize that I need to step my game up.

All of that being said, I HEAVILY encourage you guys to check em out and shoot a follow before they do release! Be one of the cool kids that get in the club early!

tbh I'd recommend any of the IFs I reblog, as cliche as it might sound. But I will shout out some of them ^^

Not going to repeat any recs from my last post.

@fir-fireweed's Cantata is very lovely <3 I love the variables with the elements and the various themes that just kinda...hit close to home. It is a WIP, but a sizeable amount has already been published.

A Tale Of Crowns by @ataleofcrowns is a WIP I hold dear as well. There's heavy of influence from Kurdish culture, which is very cool to see and witness.

Tales of Wocdes by @tales-of-wocdes has a lot of familial themes and is shaping up to have some really cool worldbuilding. It is a WIP.

@1966-if's titular 1966 is a WIP I've had my eye on, as I really enjoy cosmic horror, and the idea of playing as the eldritch horror is such a fun idea.

Summer of Love by @summeroflove-if is a fun one too. I like the concept of IFs that are dating shows, and this one does that. Also 19 love interests is insane work, and I have nothing but respect for that. It is a WIP.

speaking of dating show IFs, @bodycountgame's Body Count is a similar concept. Except it's also a murder mystery, which is a really fun combination. Their last Tumblr update was a year ago, so I'm placing this one on presumed hiatus.

again a dating show IF, Warm Me Up by @naturalecho subverts the usual expectations of a summertime dating show by putting you in the mountains. In the cold. It is a WIP.

while all of @rotting-ink's IFs contain Themes that some people might be uncomfortable with, their writing is GORGEOUS. They have multuple WIPs going right now, but my favourite is Our Last Liasons.

The Mark Of The Devil by @mkbramble-if is rather interesting to me because of the time period and the witch hunting themes. It is a horror game as well, and is a WIP.

The Lonely Shore by @thelonelyshore-if is another horror IF I rather like, on account of The Fog and the weirdness of the town itself. It is also a WIP.

Lastly, Bloodlines by @bloodlines-if has a wonderfully enchanting cast of characters and really cool worldbuilding that I'm curious to see more of. It is a WIP.

Hey gang, how are you doing? I've been looking around for new IFs to read and Zinnia's ( @night-market-if ) discussion about how the IF community seems to have shrunken gave me the idea to drop here a bunch I've really liked (picture me making thumbs up at these authors):

Soulmates Inc. by @soulmatesinc-if You're a soul-link, some kind of modern cupid who is also an office worker with the task of making soulmates run into one another. You're also one of the best at what you do. Everything is fine and dandy until someone sabotages your powers making your last assignment impossible to complete. Now you have to work along a delightful cast of characters to find out how to finish your task… or if you even should.

Season of Shadows by Kwartel. Such a fun game about being a young noble in the Regency era who must get married in order to save their family from financial ruin/rub it in their ex-bethrothed's nose after being jilted by them. There isn't an option to be nonbinary from the start, but for what I've seen, you'll have the chance to present more masculine/feminine at a later date. Lots of ROs that respond differently depending on the MCs sex and presentation. Also, the author knows so much about the Regency era which I appreciate since I know nothing about it.

Burning Academia by @burning-academia-if Oh man, talking about a traumatized MC with a terrible family life. You're part of the prole (which is always a plus in my book) you have no money and not a chance to get into university, until you're attacked by something not from this world while visiting an acquaintance at his private college. Now you must attend this university in order to keep whatever that was away from you (and for them to keep an eye on you just in case you're secretly an evil wizard). Also, magic is real and nobody will let you acclimatize to this new earth-shattering revelation. Oh, and you're carrying an extra passenger in your head now. Have fun!

@whentherewasatime-if surprisingly I liked it (I wasn't sure because I was half asleep and really tired and wanted to catch up on IFs, pearl sent me and I woke up and was like damn.)

@darkfictionjude all of their games, at first, just a bit confused with EC because I was a bit dumb but replayed it and fell in love with it. I love their IFs.

@parasitical-if which they have parasitical and I love it, gosh golly gosh ! (I need august) I love and remember playing it but not actually playing it so it felt like a dream for some reason... (that was hard to explain like I played it before but never did ?)

@debtofdeception-if which they have debt of deception and I love A... pathetic loser sighhh~ I NEED more, yum yum ! Also love the MC, I need them as well and I love our child so much, sick child </3

@infamous-if not really hard to explain this, love it. I love all the ros, love the side pieces, love my best friends, love everything and I always cry while playing it (it hits hard ? maybe but its sad and awesome to me)

@velvetalliances-if which they have Velvet alliance and I love court drama or just courts in general. I love the characters' names, its so interesting.

@one-foot-in-if which they have one foot in and I just played it not long ago, I like it so far ! I didn't play for long since I did have to do something but I should continue playing it !

@cosmic-writes-if which they have a game called stillwater which is interesting ! and I played a little bit and it was AMAZING (I am now realizing how many IFs I stopped playing since I had to go to bed, do something... I should get back to playing them on the weekends or some days)

@pressplay-if which they have press play and I legit cry while playing because I love it so much and its sad for me.... how embarrassing ... ANGEL and NVM ALL THE ROS !!

@parasitic-if which they have parasitic and I love the theme of the blog, it looks like seaweed (the background color of the blog) and I NEED the bodyguard and Engima lowkey !

@1966-if which they have 1966 and I AM IN LOVEE with the concept, like ahh ! I need that idea, I should've had it/j but cool game so far.

@pavedinashes-if loved this and the ROs are interesting to me, I at first was a bit iffy about it because it didn't catch my attention but pearl told me to play it and it was golden.

@thewoodshungers-if I only played until chapter 2 since I was busy and I must say I want the knight and the witch hunter like come on, need them.

I’ve been meaning to do a part 2 to this list here! :) 💖 Lots of great IFs on that list too—I’ll try to focus on some different IFs.

Have to mention Cantata by @fir-fireweed again tho—I’ve finally had a chance to go and start reading the newer content and I’m loving it so so much so far!! Viatica was lovely and I think Fir has grown so much as a writer since then!! 💖🐛 :)

Also mentioning Softly, Opulent by @softlyopulent-if again as it got a rewrite and so far it’s so good! The author has also grown so much! :) 💖
