night of the sky's unveiling khaenri'ah tidbits analysis!!!! (Except i care more about khaenri'ah worldbuilding than the actual lore so its just the flower and feather)
"The people of the kingdom had never seen the sea, nor had they ever seen the real sun."
-the flower
So no underground oceans or the like, but this could also be referring to the dark sea which is a post of its own, for now i want to focus on the second part.
nor had they ever seen the real sun, "real sun" implies that khaenri'ah maybe had something like enkanomiya and the helios going on, a fake/artificial sun, perhaps as a means of making food grow or just get some light down there before the eclipse dynasty and the era of technology when they probably invented lightbulbs.
"However, they gazed not at the stars but sought the truth in the mirror's false reflection. Perhaps because of the kingdom's unique location, strange phenomena often appeared in the star charts within its bounds."
-the flower
Aside from the loredrop that khaenri'ahns did actually have access to the sky and stars, so far we know that the nation's "unique position" caused 2 main things:
1- creatures and aliens from outside teyvat frequently came in.
2- the star charts of the astronomers would get fucked up and showed them unusual things (which they named signs of truth aka sign of apaosha yes the same one in sumeru desert. hmmm.. truth seeker, signs of truth...seperate post seperate post)
"...and for the atrous sun to rise where the crimson moon once hung."
-the flower
obviously this is referring to the dynasties changing, but i do kinda wonder if its literal too. Was there ever a literal crimson moon in the skies of khaenri'ah that was then replaced by a permanently eclipsed sun when the new dynasty came along? I do wonder.
The next paragraph in the artifact set goes on to explain how astrology was forbidden because they discovered "the great sin" (???? Forbidden knowledge and abyssal power i assume???) but this is the part that really grabbed my attention:
"Only a select few within the kingdom were then granted the privilege of sidestepping the ban, so they might better serve their one-eyed-ruler."
So, it seems irmin allowed a lift on the ban for certain individuals under surveillance, which i can only assume was in the pursuit of knowledge-maxxing. You know, as irmin does. (stay tuned folks this will be touched upon in a seperate post because no irmin namedrop will go free on this blog)
"How beautiful the pitch-black Elysium is, how dazzling... and yet how utterly... profane."
-the flower
So it seems what Rauthvangi saw was quite literally just space, or the abyss, or the dark sea. If indeed these three are seperate from eachother. The wording of the artifact set would have us believe it was the abyss that consumed him, but im not so sure...
"For one of outland stock like him, exile was even more terrifying than the punishment of death. Exile was, after all, an ancient curse for those who had turned their backs on the gods, and once they returned above ground, that malison would catch up with them swiftly."
-the feather
PAUSE.
I WAS RIGHT.
this was implied since the notes in sumeru but the curse of the wilderness wasnt just a catacalysm exclusive thing!!!*!*!*!*!
ANYONE of "outlandish stock" aka immigrants and possibly their descendants who tried to leave khaenri'ah again after coming in would be cursed!!*!*!*!*!* this is a HUGE revelation btw it implies so many things!! Celestia cruelty?? We can assume it was also their descendants?? But then what about halfbloods born outside of khaenri'ah??? Kaeya??? And what youre telling me is that all those people who turned into hilichurls were just trying to escape or go back home??? GRAHAHAHAGQHA
"A punishment like this was itself already a betrayal of the kingdom's noble ideals, a sign that the underground realm was in decline."
-the feather
what this is telling me is that the previous ruler was more merciful than Irmin, or that Irmin's decline into madness was a gradual process.
Rauthvangi was saved. apparently the abyss has the power of withstanding the curse of the wilderness. What the hell, sure. This is totally insignificant considering the abyss order and clothar and whatnot haha (seperate post this shit needs its own speech.)
"It was as if the great existence of the cosmos had manifested before him in that instant. And chosen, above all others, to bestow upon him the grace of darkness."
