I don't think people realizes Travis worships Lottie lol. Like he has a crisis of faith in s3 because she pushes him too hard, but he is a faithful acolyte.

Travis is also closely connected to the Wilderness - in the original script it was almost to the same degree as Lottie. When she helps him with his panic attack - he feels her power and "It". He has a reverence for her and a belief in the faith. When Lottie told him "the wilderness sees your sacrifice, and so do I" it was a personal recognition from Lottie of his faithfulness, sort of elevating him to a higher ranking acolyte.

People like to interpret him as holding a grudge for doomcoming but he doesn't anymore than with any of the other girls (and there are some feelings there like when we see him have flashbacks when they're about to kill Nat - but they aren't singularly focused on Lottie). This is another instance where Lottie gets weirdly singled out by the fandom for something they all did. Travis feels protective of Akilah and guilt about putting her in harms way despite her involvement in the assault, after all.

Lottie has been said to have a motherly relationship with Travis and it also seems to be a bit oedipal for him. Lottie also very much treats Travis like her child - little moments like during his therapy when she pats the ground and says "sit with me", the way she commands him to reassure Akilah, how she protects him from Tai and Shauna.

I feel like people let s3 color their relationship too much especially when it was mostly good in s2 - Travis talks about Lottie positively in s2. Nat resents Lottie partly because she and Travis are close and he believes in her.

Again, in s3 she simply pushed him too hard. Then he witnesses her do the same to Akilah - he starts to recognize how reckless and dangerous she can be. She also disclosed her mental illness to him. It made him start to doubt everything and resent her, he decided everything was "bullshit".

Then, well, she debatably performed a miracle in front of him when he tries to kill her. This shakes his world and gives him a crisis that results in him abusing alcohol - but it also restores his faith, and his connection to the Wilderness.
