I don’t know where we were last night, But we were in a dinning hall. I, along with our brothers and sisters in Christ, gathered around a massive round table. For some reason I expected you to come And so I continued scanning my eyes around the room. People at the table began to bow their heads in prayer, and I reluctantly closed my eyes. In that split second, you did come. And you took the seat right next to me. Now there was something different about the chair I was sitting in. It wasn’t exactly a chair. (Maybe calling it a tiny bench would be more appropriate.) It had just enough room for two. Just enough room for you & me. As this grand feast continued in its course, I noticed myself slowly sliding closer to your body, just until I could feel the side of my arm pressed against yours. And of course you noticed immediately. I felt your body flinch a bit as you cast a quick glance at me through the side of your eyes. I slowly moved away again. Maybe I was pushing things too quickly. Maybe you didn’t want me THAT close. But I missed you. And the moment you were next to me I wanted to be that close. I didn’t want to lose the sight of you again. I guess my personal thought process eventually showed up in the countenance of my face, cause now you were staring at me, as though you were studying my thoughts. What’s strange was it seemed like you knew. By now, most of the people had finished eating and the dinning table only had a few people who stayed behind to chat. Suddenly I felt a hand on top of mine. I turned to my right and you were already holding a steady gaze into my eyes. I was utterly confused. And you knew. This time you moved closer to me, until our arms pressed tightly against each other. You continued to hold my right hand, and with your left arm you reached over my head and embraced my waist. This moment didn’t last to long. And I thought you stopped in fear of being noticed by the people around us. But we seemed invisible. No one even paid attention to us. My eyes started feeling heavy. It had been a long night. “You can lean against me and sleep for a bit if you want to”, you said with the softest tone I’ve ever heard. And so I did. And the moment I laid my head against your shoulders, you rested your head against my head. For that moment, everything was perfect. Never have I felt so warm, safe, and secure. My heart was finally at rest, a state where I wish could of lasted for eternity.
