Outgoing Mail- New Mail Swap & Group!
It’s probably a little early to post these, but when good art is fresh on my mind, I just have to get it documented! This is good. This means that I am excited about something- inspired about something! Motivated!
I joined a small, secret group on instagram hosted by Steph Dodson the other week and I'm very excited about future projects. We are all swappers and pen pals in one way or the other, but this is a way for all of us to talk about mail without everyone else who doesn't really care about nerdy things like stamps and postal rates! Haha!
It's also really nice to have some small things to do and look forward to- especially for me. I need these little projects to keep me creative on busy days or when summer kicks in and all I want to do is drink gin&tonics and be lazy. I always have BIG stuff I am working on, like paintings or drawings but they are usually very time consuming. I wasn't feeling so good over the weekend but I was looking for a quite moment to use some new supplies and new paper I had painted. I sat at my desk, started right away, and like every postcard I made! That NEVER happens!
I was selected for a "drawing" group- we all were kind of voted in based on our strengths. I wanted to do a handwriting one but I figured drawing really is what I know best. I drew a brand new orange creep, small enough that I could fit it on a 4" x 6" card. It's also on a painted/inked newsprint piece which is really nice when layering. I also decided to do some new squishies, just because the colors were just right for mail. I used just one for another card and created a radial mandala thingy around it. All of them are on recycled kraft paper that I have literally been hoarding forever. Good to use old stuff, new stuff, and new stuff I made for even more newer stuff I want to make- does that make sense? LOL! What have you made this week?
