so lbr, zeref is that older brother that can hold his cool composure,  ( unless natsu burns down too many towns and zeref is buried in paperwork ) and makes the most rational decisions between the two brothers.

zeref is lowkey intimidated by erza. he acts like he isn’t phased, but he’s that guy that shakes and people point it out and he’s like “i’m not shaking”

!!! imagine them pairing up for guild activities and just WIPING THE FLOOR WITH EVERYONE ELSE because they’re just so well coordinated with one another!

zeref was chosen for the s-class trials one year and took natsu as his partner ( they still didn’t win )

just !!! the two of them going on jobs to find igneel, and sleeping under the stars at night, pointing out different constellations ( at least, zeref would. natsu points out the pictures he sees in the stars ) and just telling each other stories until they both fall asleep aAAAAAAAA

HEADCANON / MAGIC AND FIGHTING.

this is specifically for the verse: 💀 ┆ VERSE. another tale told.

so, since it would be very unpleasant / contradictory to have the curse of ankhseram and also be in the fairy tail guild, zeref’s magic is CHANGED in this verse. instead, he studied thoroughly to be a highly skilled ARCHIVE mage. 

he’s stored a lot of information on ( especially ) lost magics, and is highly skilled in figuring out his opponents before they even meet. between the two dragneel brothers, he is definitely the more logical behind the two. 

going into battle, or on a job to defeat an enemy, he attacks as if playing chess. each new enemy is a new learning experience to him, and he makes sure to document the information as a set of numbers and attack strategies in order to detect a possible pattern that may occur later on ( that way, he would be able to instruct natsu on what attacks to do in order to take less damage ).

despite having archive magic be more of a defensive / strategic magic more than an offensive magic, he’s still quite skilled in hand to hand combat. after training with his brother ( and having to quickly run away when chaos ensues on a job ), zeref has become very agile, and able to strike opponents with quick moves. though, he hardly finds himself in the offensive position when with natsu.
