“Il Gatto” di Gianni Rodari

The cat runs after the dryed out leaves on the sidewalk. He competes for them (he thinks they’re alive) with the broom that picks them up. Those that from the highest branches fall red and yellow are surely butterflies that challenge his jumps. The slow death of the year it’s nothing else for him than a nice game, and for the men that make of it a happy fire at sunset.
