SQUID GAME: Vote Parallel
Netflix's Squid Game Season 1 Episode 2: Hell // Season 2 Episode 3: 001
Il-nam: Welcome to the fuck player 456 club, where we all gather to say a collective 'fuck you' to Seong Gi-hun.
In-ho, standing up: So I may have misunderstood–
Fly low
season 2 characters and the season 1 character they’re most like
-myunggi and sangwoo
While myunggi obviously lacks the intelligence that sangwoo had, they have an incredibly similar spirit. both are prime examples of how the game is meant to break you. sangwoo and myunggi both began as rather normal people, but as the game went on, they became more and more obsessed with the idea of winning, and killing others to do so became second nature
-hyunju and ali
i think that this is probably the most obvious comparison between players. both are seen as outcasts due to their outward appearance, however both possess the kindest heart in their games. they were both incredibly strong people and had neither of them been so trusting/selfless, they both could have easily won their games, however, they both ended up getting stabbed in the back (one literally), making their kindheartedness the causes of their deaths (also they both saved gihun’s ass in red light green light which i find funny)
-junhee and saebyeok
I would say that this one is less about their personalities and more about the role they play in the games. both of the girls joined the games in order to provide for the person they are meant to care for (junhee with her baby and sae-byeok with her brother). regarding personality, both girls are rather reserved, with junhee being more quiet and saebyeok being stoic. both are also viewed as daughters from gihun’s perspective, and due to his failure with his daughter, he seeks to protect the girls, however when that fails, he swears to care for those whom they joined the game to provide for (saebyeok’s brother and junhee’s baby)
-inho and ilnam
besides the obvious that both are the front man disguised as a player, both of them have very similar arcs. relating to gihun, both of them grew an attachment with him, and both of them wanted to ensure that gihun would be the winner of the game. both ilnam and inho wanted to prove that the games change people, however, they both saw gihun as a challenge. both of them got close, with gihun lying in marbles and gihun killing daeho, however, despite their efforts, he was always able to regain his humanity
-daeho and gihun
this one is probably my favorite comparison. both gihun and daeho initially joined the games with high spirits, both of them sporting smiles for the majority of their games. both of them also have moments of fear where they go against their morals, gihun in the marble game when he knew he was about the lose and resorting to lying to save himself and daeho with the rebellion when he failed to bring the magazines back to the group. this similarity is even addressed by gihun himself, as he blames himself for the rebellion but targets daeho, not just because he is looking for someone else to blame but because he sees so much of his old safe in daeho
me: *sees dark and twisted piece of media with an ensemble cast*
me: …ok but like what if they started a band that would be so epic
Thinking about how Gi-hun’s old and new teams would interact with each other.
For sure, Jung-bae, Dae-ho, and Ali would be besties and get along so well.
I think Sae-byeok would be like the protective older sister to Jun-hee, since she has a little brother and Jun-hee is pregnant.
Il-nam would be the evil dad we all hate of In-ho and tell him continuing the games is much more important than his son’s love for Gi-hun.
Sang-woo would be the first to know In-ho and Il-nam are the ones behind the games and In-ho would likely kill him, to keep him stay quiet and out of jealousy that Gi-hun likes him more.
The truth is that thanks to Gi hun I realize that when I'm over 50 years old, I hope to get a harem of handsome men who are willing to die without fear 🤭
