Adam Kinzinger’s Lonely Mission

Censured by his party and shunned by family members, Mr. Kinzinger, a six-term Illinois congressman, is pressing Republicans to leave Donald Trump behind — and risking his career doing so.

Notable in this article about Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL-16) is an example of hate mail he’s gotten from Trump-brainwashed members of his extended family.  

Rep. Kinzinger‘s cousin Karen Otto (yes, a real Karen) sent him a letter which you can read here (page 1 & page 2).

As far as I can tell, Cousin Karen lives in a town of just over 1,000 with two churches and one grain elevator. There doesn’t seem to be much to do there other than watch Fox News and write poison pen letters filled with multiple underlinings and numerous exclamation marks. 

I don’t doubt that it was written by some elderly cousin of Rep. Kinzinger, but it sounds like something that could have been co-written by Christian Pharisee Franklin Graham and some hack at Fox News.

From reading this letter you get an excellent idea of how brainwashed and delusional a lot people have become during the Trump era. The pseudo-Christian justifications for Trump, the demonization of Democrats, and the worship of Fox News personalities are all there. I hope that Rep. Kinzinger donates this letter to the Smithsonian so that people in the future can get a better understanding of the sickness which has afflicted much of the US in recent years.

Adam Kinzinger should regard this letter with pride. Whether you agree with his politics or not, he is a person of honor who will be remembered with respect by history. That certainly won’t be the way the Cousin Karens of this era will be treated by posterity.

The Role of Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) in Recognition of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Lung Epithelial Cells: Detailed Study | Chapter 6 |  Current Research Trends in Biological Science Vol. 1

Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Regulator (CFTR) plays an important role in chloride and thiocyanate ion homeostasis in human epithelial surfaces. Deletion of phenylalanine at position 508 (Δ508) leads to cystic fibrosis and dysregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Pseudomonas aeruginosa gains predominance, contributing over 80% of the lung bacteria in adults with CF and this strongly correlates with the decline of pulmonary function and mortality. The research aimed at understanding the role of CFTR in response to P. aeruginosa, (the most common pathogen that colonises the airways of Cystic Fibrosis patients), with the objectives of evaluating the relative expression of epithelial and inflammatory cytokines (IL-17C and IL-6) in five (Calu3, CFBE41o, CFBE41o wt, Calu3 altered and Calu3 knockout) human bronchial epithelial cell lines after two hours of infection with P. aeruginosa using Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR). It was found that Calu3 and Calu3 altered, treated cell lines significantly (p=0.05) increased in the level of IL-17C and IL-6 mRNA in all the experimental repeats compare to untreated.   The other three (CFBE 41o, CFBE41o wt, and Calu3 knockout) cell lines deficient of CFTR expressed low levels of these cytokines, but the level varied among the experiment in both treated and untreated cells suggesting that CFTR may modulate the level of cytokine production in bronchial epithelial cell lines. CFTR mutations have a direct effect on T cell function; enhance Th17 response which is one of the sources of IL-17. The IL-17C plays a central role in pulmonary host defence by orchestrating the accumulation and associated activity of neutrophils in the bronchoalveolar space. However, the massive neutrophils accumulation in the CF lung does not correlate with bacterial eradication but rather causes extensive tissue damage and inflammation disproportion to infection indicating that the function of neutrophils is dysregulated in CF. CHICAGO (AP) -- Longtime Republican Congressman Don Manzullo has lost a grueling primary election to freshman Congressman Adam Kinzinger in north-central Illinois.

There's no Democrat on the ballot, so Kinzinger is headed back to Washington.

The 16th Congressional District race was the only incumbent versus incumbent race in Illinois and pitted the veteran lawmaker against the former Air Force pilot.

That's because new congressional map drawn by Democrats put much of Kinzinger's old district into Manzullo's. Kinzinger decided to run in Manzullo's instead of challenging Democratic Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., who easily won the Democratic nomination Tuesday.

The new 16th District curves through north-central Illinois from the Wisconsin state line to the Indiana border.

Kinzinger first won office in 2010 with strong tea party support, including an endorsement former Gov. Sarah Palin.
