Hun, you don't know but I run on FB a very popular Italian page about slash couples. Yesterday I got this question on my Ask: Sometimes I think the only way we could have canon Destiel is to switch Cas from a male to a female vessel. And I was No no, I wouldn't change Misha and his chemistry with Jensen for a canon Destiel with a female vessel! Like ever! I think this narrative solution would be so offensive to Misha and our fandom for a lot of reasons. What do you think, my darling?
Ah yeah, the never ending ‘what if Cas was in a female vessel’ debate. :p
Keeping it simple; I think that what makes a ship epic on screen is almost always to thank to BOTH the story between two characters, as well as the natural chemistry between their actors. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a straight couple or a queer couple, if you replace one of the actors, the entire dynamic shifts. Hell, even if they let another guy play Cas’ new vessel; it wouldn’t be the same.
Also, hypothetically speaking, because it’s just a ‘what if’ situation; if they are seriously planning to make Destiel the canon endgame, but only doing it after Cas has changed to a female vessel... (and clearly making him change to said female vessel simply in order to do this) yeah, that would pretty much be the most homophobic thing I’ve ever seen.
