i always read that as 12 aspiring to be a Comrade but being unable to escape his spoiled lil aristocrat heritage. There were some really good lines in hell bent that brought it all together but were unfortunately cut

all of those things actually exist in the GO universe though. i dont know why people keep painting her as crackers when like... within the story canon, she's right about everything.

I always got the impression that was due to Anathema talking to Adam about those things and giving all those magazines and books to read, and Adam making them exist subconsciously because he likes the idea of them. He also likes Anathema and wants to make her happy. So they become real.

Which doesn’t mean Anathema is wrong... just there’s an Antichrist with a small crush on her who thinks she’s right and wants to make her feel better

(There is the vague suggestion that stuff doesn’t exist before Adam meets Anathema because the Youngs didn’t encourage that sort of stuff, but it’s too late for me to be thinking about that.)

she was right though? the things she told adam were true?

sure the things she verbally said about like climate change and stuff were but she then gives him the new aquarian magazines as a factual resource and they convince him that tibetans are secretly tunnelling around the world and that atlantis has been rediscovered (aka conspiracy bullshit, even though well intentioned)
