Two daughters of Priam
Day 27-Iliona
I started a project where I redraw all of my Trojan royal family designs, but I spent too long on it and now I just wanna restart the whole thing. But! I didn't want to throw away the ones I have finished, so here's the first nine, with a promise that soon I will have all 21 redone for y'all's viewing pleasure.
Hello, Prince Hector! Of your sisters, who do you like the best?
Oh, that is an unfair question indeed for they are all dear to me in their own way.
My sister Ilione holds a special place in my heart, especially because she is bound to a man no woman in Troy should ever have been given to. I must protect her. Kassandra, poor soul, is usually with Helenos, and the evenings we spend together are peaceful...quiet reading, gentle conversation, simply holding one another so she can rest. The visions drain her more than most can imagine. Kreusa drives a chariot better than many warriors I know, and training with her is always a delight. Laodike and Polyxena are still so young, yet they are the light of our house.
I cannot choose a favorite. They are all jewels of Troy, each one worth defending with my life.
The oldest and most underrated tragic child of Priam, Ilione.
troytober day 27–iliona
shes so devious i love herrr ugh iliona my beloved
cheer this is (possibly) my last troytober thing
unless i go back and do the first three
Been thinking abt Priam’s daughters again, the ones people hardly acknowledge cuz they’re just- some of them are so interesting, anyways rant we shall-
Laodice, she had a child with one of the Greeks during the beginning of the war, and even by the end it’s said she came to no harm somehow?? Even as a captive, and the most beautiful daughter of Hecuba and Priam. In another telling it mentions she prayed to the gods, I know she died in that one buuuuttt… mix and match? Perhaps??
Now Creusa, there’s more content of her tho people still don’t mention her much even in the context of Aeneas, which is a shame cuz that’s a couple that intrigues me a LOT. Her death while Aeneas is trying to save his father, only being left with his son that would remind him of her, perhaps even ask about her, where she is and when she is coming home? Aeneas can’t answer.
But it gets better… Creusa being rescued from death and enslavement… oh now that’s juicy, but also AU territory…What I’m here to talk abt is what we have in canon mostly, so back to what really happens.
Creusa’s shade predicting Aeneas’ wedding to another woman breaks my heart, she had to beg him to come with her, to take care of their son with her and then she dies. She dies because she couldn’t keep up, because she got separated. Probably screaming for her son and husband, she loves them, no? She’d want Aeneas to come help her, to let her still be able to be there for her son- but alas, she dies. And then after her death, before shes taken to the underworld she gets to know her husband will live and thrive and marry another woman without her- oof
And lastly that I can find information on-
Iliona, she kinda confuses me tbh, her logic of bringing up her son as her brother and her brother as her son in preparation for the worst is- a choice?? My real question is tho is just- was she entrusted Polydorus while pregnant or right after the birth of Deipylus? Because apparently Deipylus’ father didn’t know who was who, either that or perhaps they just looked that similar, which is less confusing but also- oof
Shes just quite odd to me, I don’t fully understand her logic, or why she would believe something so drastic would happen she needed to exchange her son for her brother. It’s quite interesting tho I will say, Iliona may confuse me but she intrigues me just as much. If anyone has more info on her I would be thrilled to hear it!
I was gonna put Polyxena here too but I have wayy too much to say on her to be here, my goodness I am in love with her….
