UCLA referred me to USC because they didn't have a single surgeon wanting, willing, or capable of helping a post op transgender man. Fast forward a year and a half, and now USC is saying the same thing--they do not have a urologist wanting, willing, or capable of fixing a urethra fistula in a neo phallus. I spent the last couple of days scared, depressed, and uncertain of my future. So now it comes down to choosing between Cedars (here in LA) and UCSF (holy fuck traveling 400 miles is an ordeal). It's fucking bullshit that it is this hard to find transgender healthcare. It's fucking bullshit that I am being passed from hospital to hospital, from surgeon to surgeon--because they're all afraid or not wanting to touch me. So, this one is for all my people that are trans and/or gender non conforming and going into the healthcare system professionally. The ONLY way things will change is if WE change them. #ftm #illeostomy #transgender #phalloplasty #phalloplastycomplications (at Keck Medicine of USC)
