So, if the Order of the Ancient is older than the Hidden Ones, as they seem to have been around longer. Who were the pseudo-Assassins before Bayek? Where there anyone fighting against the Order of the Ancients before this set?
I’m going to assume it would have been Darius, who used the first Hidden Blade to assassinate Xerxes, and Iltani, who assassinated Alexander the Great (both predating the events of AC Origins, and whose statues both can be seen in the Auditore villa’s underground vault) who might have been part of a pseudo-Brotherhood that stopped the influence of the Order of the Ancients before Bayek and Aya came along.
This is just a personal suspicion of mine, but the creation of the Assassins in all their iterations was always meant as a response to the actions of the Templars; meaning that the Order of the Ancients would always come first, before it was necessary for the Assassins/Hidden Ones to emerge to stop them.
