Horned Serpent Headcannons

- every single horned serpent has a little word of the day calendar that they try using except some of the words are just ridiculous

- how on earth are they suppose to use ‘slyboots’ in a normal conversation without sounding like a tool

- “what the hell is an olykoek?” “it’s a donut,” “then just say donut, ya nut”

- they get a reputation for being a little eccentric

- the common room is a mess

- books everywhere, stacks on the floor that are taller than most of the students

- a fun game is seeing how high the serpents can stack the books without them toppling over

- “my text book is there” a first year say pointing at the bottom of the stack “that’s rough buddy”

- it gets out of hand “you didn’t need to build the fucking coliseum” “i’m not done, its suppose to be the leaning tower of pisa” “shit, move over i wanna help”

- they always mean to clean the common room and sometimes they do but it only ever lasts about a week

- jokes in latin that annoy the other students “its a dead language, Paul” “yeah well you’re dead to me now” “harsh”

- they are all very dramatic

- music plays in the common room except its always changing

- opera, broad way music (mostly Hamilton) , classical, electronic pop, the amount of times ‘never gonna give you up’ has played is unsettling, pop, Christmas music in October (mainly mariah carey’s Santa Baby), the national anthem plays whenever one of the prefects try making a speech

- lip syncing competitions, the other houses are invited but they’re scared of going in

- one wampus tried visiting their tutor but ended up trapped in a net because some of the horned serpents thought the real pukwudgies were secretly stealing their stuff, but they had just been trying to turn in the over due library books

- there’s a ‘conspiracy corner’ where students can go all out “area 52 is real look i can prove it” “don’t you mean area 51″ “thats what they want you to think”

- some students come off a little pretentious but they mean well, its just everything that comes out of their mouth makes the others want to punch them in the face

- “obviously i’ll be in the top three again, but i wonder how you’ll be doing on this exam” “thanks jeff, im really glad we’re housemates too”

- over the summer the serpents text each other all the time and try to out do each other with their fancy vocabulary

- in a private chat “i don’t even know what we’re talking about anymore” “me either, just start typing random words together and act like you know what it means”

So I know tumblr isn’t the most accepting place of Pilgrims coming over on the Mayflower, but one of my Ancestors came over on the Mayflower, so for my entire life I have grown up hearing stories about the Mayflower. I have a fantastic ancestor if anyone wants to hear about him, trust me its a blast and a hoot and a half.

Anyways, I just read the Ilvermory story up on Pottermore, and I was just so amazed at all the research that JK did. I’m going to post some stuff below, if you haven’t read it yet there will be spoilers!

So ths story is of Isolt Sayre, who ends up escaping her aunt (who murdered her parents and kidnapped Isolt) and she does so by pretending to be a Muggle boy name Elias Story and comes to America on the Mayflower. When they landed in America, she ran away and so Elias “died”.

Now there was such a person on the Mayflower named Elias Story, but they didn’t sign the Mayflower compact which means he was under 18 or 21 (same age as Isolt) and then died due to harsh winter. 

Isolt then meets James Steward, who was another Pilgrim. Gues what, there was a real life James Steward. Little is known about him, and most importantly there is no record of his death, and that good because him and Isolt lived to be over 100 years old. 

I’m just amazed again that JK Rowling picked up on these two obcure people and incorporated them into her story and gave reasons for there being little known info about them. 

(side not, I appologize for anyone who is related to these real people, because now JK has taken over your ancestor’s stories)
