Thy days are long and hard and grey. Thou scrapest and strain for a crust of bread, a bit of rabbit. And what for? God? Thy family's pride? Thou couldst sit down and be served, drink of good wine, sup on tender calf-meat and sugared cakes, thy beauty praised and preserved, wrapped in silks and furs. Thou needst never lose a thing again. Pray, tell me... wouldst thou like to live deliciously?
