i get really upset when i look back on when i wasn’t diagnosed with adhd and think about how desperately i tried to be nt. i did everything i could think of but it never seemed to be good enough. i didn’t know what was wrong with me, but i was taught that i might as well have been born on a different planet. i felt like there was something fundamentally broken and wrong about me, and that nothing i ever do or say or try will ever fix that. then i got my diagnosis, and i looked into it, and i talked with my therapist about it, and it made so much sense. but it still makes me sad. every neurodivergent person i’ve met has tried their best to be neurotypical at some point. now i can embrace my neurodivergence, and i know that it’s nothing to be ashamed of. but when i was diagnosed, i felt so guilty.

to all nds, you’re not broken or flawed or fucked up!! you’re unique and perfect just as you are!! and i love you!!! you don’t have to change yourself !!! there’s nothing wrong with you!
