Iron Man 2020 #4
Good news everyone!! Iron Man 2020 is OVER
Hey, about im2020. The run is meh bt the good thing is; it’s NOT canon. Marvel can’t convince me that it’s canon. It has not been referenced ANYWHERE outside im2020 books. Tony is literally alive in the avengers books. In Empyre, he’s alive & thriving. I even read a tweet & Gage did say what’s going on in Iron man solo book doesn’t rule out what’s happening in avengers but he failed to explain how Tony is well alive. He was saying 2 Howards can exist cuz one is a clone but what about Tony? Smh
Marvel is a giant chaotic mess now and timeline-wise, it got fucked up because of Corona. If I remember correctly IM2020 was supposed to end in June (so Empyre would probably directly follow it), but because of quarantine they decided to end it in August. And they couldn't probably delay Avengers event for whatever reason.
The thing is that IM2020 could be so good, Arno could be nice foil to Tony, he could be interesting character. Even if the whole adoption story feels kinda meh, cuz it was meh-illy executed, Arno's story could have let him develop into a complex character. Even if his villain arc was inevitable, it could have been done more gracefully - I mean, dude spent all of his life in an iron lung, while another dude took his place, it wouldn't be surprise if he actually went batshit crazy, if Marvel actually cared about him. But nah, all we've got was this hamfisted A.I. revolution and Arno's 'idgaf, I'm edgy and evil because I said so' attitude.
IM2020 generally was pointless to me. I think, they tried to portray that no matter the body, he always would be Tony Stark? IM2020 was supposed to be a major point in Tony's history, but we didn't gain anything. It didn't have major impact. I think, that was the reason I was so disappointed when Mark One went from 'I'm not Tony Stark' to 'I'm Tony Stark' in 0.5 seconds flat. It was just, so anti-climatic.
Fun flashback time
