since ima and kako are so close, you can sometimes feel a little left out, even though you're the one dating those two. there's so much about them you'll only learn with time, that they already know about each other

“stay away from my sister–!”

“h-huh…!?”

ima had cornered you in the hallway outside of the cafeteria. just moments ago, you were talking to kako, expecting her brother to be far away and unable to spot the two of you. and yet, here ima was, right in front of you and clearly having seen the two of you together!

“i saw you getting all friendly with kako just now! you were hitting on her, weren't you? i know my dear sister is very cute and all… but don't get too comfortable with her! she won't date you, i won't allow it–!”

you were still a little perplexed, but slowly things started to sink in. ima thought you were flirting with his sister! which meant he hadn't actually heard what kako and you were talking about…

“i-i'm not interested in kako, i promise–!” you assured ima, but it seemed like that wasn't the right answer either.

“why not? is she not pretty enough for you? isn't she the cutest girl you've ever met? what is wrong about her that you're not into her, huh!?” ima huffed, trying to defend his sister's honor.

“k-kako is very lovely, you're right!” you assured ima, before swallowing hard and taking a deep breath, before your next sentence, “but it's her brother that i'm interested in…!”

“you–” ima was still enraged as he spoke, before your words sank in a second later. “you're interested… in… me?”

you could see the confusion on his face, unable to fathom what you just said. now that he was quiet, you seized the opportunity to explain yourself further.

“i wasn't flirting with kako earlier. i came to her to ask for advice on how to confess to you.” you confessed. “but… i don't think i need to do that anymore.”

ima remained quiet even as you spoke, but slowly, you could see his face grow red, until he resembled a tomato. only then did he manage to get some words out.

“i… i see. i suppose in that case i don't mind you being around kako…” he mumbled. “and… since my dear sister already seems to approve of you dating me… there's really nothing holding me back from reciprocating your feelings.”

so instead of flirting with you or asking you out on a date, he just slowly begins to act as if he's already your boyfriend. getting a little too close to count as platonic, giving you pet names and scaring off any guys daring to hit on you!
