This request features CEO and founder of Anvil, Billy Russo, ruminating on life and other things, and who doesn’t want another peek into this mastermind’s brain? The request for this was made by the amazingly fierce @gollyderek as follows:
As a disclaimer, I delved into this having every intention to somehow get Billy Russo into a fluffy situation, but this was the outcome. Either way, I hope y’all like what I’ve come up with. Thank you for reading!

SELECTING OUR 2021 TREND
After coming together as a group to discuss our next steps after we had agreed that our current trend wasn’t working due to the how broad the trend was and that my group members, as well as myself, didn’t feel inspired by it we decided to look at another trend which we could use for our brand. I proposed to my group that we look at loungewear as outerwear. At this point, it was just an idea that popped into my head but we began to discuss some product ideas and almost immediately everybody was on board. Some product examples were garments which could be reversed so that one half could be used to wear out and about and when you got home you could flip the product around and wear it as pyjamas or loungewear.
When I got home I began to do a bit of research surrounding leisurewear as I knew it was something I enjoy and love but is this trend still relevant? The most important thing for me when researching the trend was that our chosen trend wouldn’t be ignored by customers and that the vision and purpose of the brand would actually tie in nicely with the needs and wants of customers. Researching statistics about the percentage of people who work from home at any time was important to me because part of our target market would be people who work at home but still want to feel put together so for example, they are not embarrassed if the postman knocks on the door at 9am with a parcel and your in your pyjamas but also are able to grab your keys and pop out to the supermarket looking put together if you had too. Although for the UK I did not find any specific statistics of people who work from home a lot of articles I read were saying people are now spending more time at home due to technology advancements whether that be home gadgets or advancements meaning they don’t have to go to an office to work 9-5 Monday to Friday. The home is now becoming a multifunctional space so customers prioritise will shift from attire for the office to attire for the home plus office.
Overall I’m happy with the selected trend off me and my group, it has given me lots of ideas to work on individually and as a group.
Social Identity
Social identity can be a facade that is constructed by the artists themselves. It is a particular way that they want the public to view them or a way they choose to be viewed due to what makes them look good or makes them popular or liked by the public. An individual’s social identity can be Authentic and true to how they really are or it can be un-Authentic. An artist’s social Identity can be formed though social media platforms, how they dress, what their interests are and what their works express. Social identity can also be formed through the groups of people that a person chooses to bond with. An individual will choose a group, which makes them feel a sense of pride, and gives them an increased self-esteem. When the status of this group increases so does the self-image of the individual.
For Example Elvis Presley had a particular look that he used to brand himself. His outfit and hairstyle are still today connected with him. Whilst social media wasn’t big at the time. Elvis used the way he dressed and his characteristics to create himself a social identity.
