Apollinaire

There are many poets in literary history, some known and some unknown. There is one unknown poet who has made a revolutionary impact on the art of poetry in the 20th century. Guillaume Apollinaire made an impact on creating poetry combining text and images in a way never done before. I researched him to see this revolutionary art/poetry and it is extraordinary. It is being done by other artists/poets now, and they have a YouTube channel to teach others how to do it. I love it and will try my hand at it. as well.  

According to Geneviéve Emy, Apollinaire lived a short life. Can you imagine what he could have done if he had more time? I recall writing a poem in Dr. Byrd’s class many years ago. It was shaped like a crucifix. The difference in my poem is that I filled the entire crucifix with words. Apollinaire outlined his poems with words and in some poems, he filled the image with words, like the Eiffel Tower, and in some, he did both. That is beautiful, I came up with the idea because I had the cross with the dyeing Jesus on it in my hand and the story behind that crucifix.  

Nevertheless, you can see the image in the poems as you read them, which is an artistic revolution. I don't remember seeing anyone else do this before or never noticed. You need to be looking for something sometimes to notice it. If I had not researched Apollinaire, I would not have seen his work. His innovative form and his content style are done in French and now translated into English. Here is a picture of the Eiffel Tower for those who haven't seen his work. He called his poems calligrammes.
