Petition (please friends, please) to rename the Remus ships using the word Imagination. Logan himself said that Remus is NOT intrusive thoughts, but rather that Thomas sometimes experiences his contributions as such, and is distressed by them in large part due to Virgil and Patton’s reactions. Logan explained “The Duke does encompass a portion of your imagination,” so I like the idea of using that instead :) 

The episode he appeared in addressed intrusive thoughts, but there was also an episode that centered around how Virgil can cause cognitive distortions when unhealthy. But we don’t call Prinxiety Prinstortions because A) that sounds ridiculous, and B) it’s not accurate to the character or a healthy/objective version/representation of him.

When I see “intrulogical” it feels the same as when I see “tw remus,” which I know the fandom has already talked about how that can harmful to people who relate to him (just tag it remus sanders or ts remus). I love “dark” imagination -- without it we wouldn’t have such awesome media (including the DWIT episode) or creative minds (like oh idk, JOAN’S), and seeing it represented as NOT bad or black and white made me feel so much better about myself. 

So here’s what I propose:

Logan x Remus: Imagical (It sounds so cool, right?)

Patton x Remus: Imaginality (Thank you to the anon who came up with this!!! Older version of this post had “immorality” but imaginality is waaaay better and doesn’t sound like it’s immoral)

Virgil x Remus: Dukexiety (Same as always; Duke is fine!)

Deceit x Remus: Demus/Dukeceit (also works cause it’s just his name)

Note: it’s ok that different ship names use Duke, Remus, or Imagination cause like... Roman’s got Royal, Prince, and Roman in his ship names so yeah. (But he is NOT on this list cause they are BROTHERS)

I don’t even ship most of these atm, but seeing Remus reduced to intrusive thoughts after an entire episode about why he’s more than that and it isn’t core to his personality is a pretty unhealthy way to interpret that video, and can be hurtful to those who experience intrusive thoughts or relate to Remus or felt comforted by Logan saying it’s all okay. 

I know change is hard and stuff but we’ve done it before! (I mean, we adapt to what we call the characters when we learn their names, don’t we?) and I think it’s worth the change to show Remus’ character in a canonical, healthy light that accurately reflects the psychology on which he was based. 

A lot of people have agreed/supported/suggested this, so hopefully we can spread the word!!!

A thought just popped into my brain where there’s another round of Secret Santa for the Sides, and again it’s randomized. So I was like what’d be a really weird combo? And then I thought of Remus giving Patton booty shorts with “Legality is not Morality” on the ass

Not very long ago I made a post* about how I and several others personally feel uncomfortable with the Remus ship names that use “intrusive thoughts” as his defining trait. So we came up with replacements that use “imagination” instead, as that’s what Logan said he encompasses, “like it or not,” while intrusive thoughts are simply how some of his contributions manifest in Thomas’ experience. It’s not so “black and white, so to speak.” 

Virgil had a whole episode about how his contributions are often experienced by Thomas as Cognitive Distortions, and that’s true! But we still call him Anxiety, since that’s what he is at his core. Intrusive thoughts and cognitive distortions are prominent in their functions, but not who they are, and not a healthy viewpoint/version of their characters. I still joke around and call Remus an intrusive thot cause it’s funny and not overarching, but for the ships I just gotta do what I’m comfy with. Remus, Logan, and Roman all said it themselves: Remus is Creativity, just like Roman. 

I don’t expect the whole fandom to change the ship names, but I wanted to let y’all know that I’ll be tagging any Remus ship content on my own blog with the new ones that use the term “imagination” for him. 

This is because I feel:

it’s not only more accurate to his character and canon, 

not only does it make a lot of us feel more comfortable, 

not only does it not demonize what society/Thomas’ upbringing categorizes as “bad” creativity, 

not only does it show people who relate to Remus that they aren’t bad, unpleasant, unwanted, or immoral,

but it’s also the healthiest perspective on his character and the psychological applications of what he represents.

(Also, imo the new names just SOUND so much cooler! But that’s besides the point)

So if you don’t like seeing Remus ships and have the tags blacklisted, you should also blacklist the new names so you don’t have to see anything you don’t want! I’m gonna be using the new ones, and I’ve seen a few people around the fandom using them, too, which makes me so happy :D

It’s only two ship names that have changed, so in case you didn’t know (you probably didn’t lol), here are the new ones some of us have implemented:

Logan x Remus: intrulogical >>> imagical 

Patton x Remus: intruality >>> imaginality

Again, I don’t expect everyone to change what terms they use, but I’m thrilled to see it’s gotten at least slightly more common, and that’s what I’ll be using :) The rest of the ship names use Duke or Remus, so I’ll use those as usual. 

TL;DR: 

The current Remus ship names make some people (myself included) feel icky and uncomfortable, so if you don’t want to see Intrulogical and/or Intruality and you have those blacklisted, you should also blacklist Imagical and/or Imaginality, as those are the names I’ll be using. I’d be ecstatic if they keep gaining traction for the reasons listed above, but that’s what I’ll be doing regardless. I don’t want y’all seeing anything you don’t feel comfortable with <3 Thanks for listening!

I like your ideas for the name a lot so I'm going to start using both just in the hope it helps maybe spread it around a little bit :D

Oh that’d be lovely!!! I know a few people have messaged me to say thank you and that they also feel icky with the current ship names, so I’m glad it’s not just me

And yeah it’s really only two ships I renamed with the “imagination” version

intruality >>> imaginality

the rest use “duke” or “remus” so those don’t bother me at all! So I guess it’s not all that much of a change...maybe it IS doable... I don’t think it’ll undo the other names but maybe it’ll get enough traction that people who don’t feel comfy with the old ones have something new to call em! I know I’ve refrained from reblogging logan x remus stuff before cause I hate writing out intrulogical even though I enjoy the dynamic. Plus Imagical is such a fun name!!! And I don’t really ship Patton and Remus but with a name like imaginality who knows???

OH HELLO THERE I ADORE THAT!!

Tbh real talk time I don't like the fact that Remus ships have "intrusive thoughts" as the basis. The whole point of the video was that he ISN'T just that. Logan said Remus "does encompass a portion of your imagination" and that his contributions are "largely experienced by you in the form of intrusive thoughts."

Remus is Creativity. The specific video in which he debuted was just about intrusive thoughts. Just like how Virgil isn't exclusively Cognitive Distortions despite the video centering around how he contributes to them.

I rather enjoy Remus as a character and the complexity of how Thomas views him... So seeing "the part of your creative mind and imagination that you or others see as dark or forbidden but still can serve a purpose and be utilized to create intriguing content and explore parts of yourself that scare you more freely" be reduced to "intrusive thoughts" is kinda disappointing.

Petition to brainstorm new ship names for Remus!

I'm personally still fond of "Organized Chaos" for him with Logan... Or Mad Scientists? Idk but let's think of more cause this is fun

UPDATE: I’m calling Logan x Remus Imagical from now on :D And Patton x Remus is Imaginality!
