Headcanon 6
After Yang gets her replacement arm, she becomes very very self conscious about it. (A trait several amputees actually experience.) She covers it with baggy hoodies only showing it to a few. She gets pitied looks from people who happen to see it. She hates that a lot. But the worst is she feels it’s a constant reminder of not a heroic act, but her greatest failure. She hates looking at it. Even though the paintjob on it is beautifully done, she thinks it’s ugly.
With Blake, she also blames herself for it, but Yang constantly asks her to look past the metal and see her for herself. Yet Yang is a hypocrite in the matter. She can’t see past her own arm. All she sees is a deformity. She even says to Blake “You hide you ears, I hide this thing. At least your ears aren’t a deformity.”
She even debates about what she hates more. Whether looking to it and seeing nothing there is worse than looking to it and seeing a chunk of metal. “The only good thing about it is I have something the clutch when the phantom pains come.”
