"When I was a kid...yeah, I hoped for an afterlife. Something beyond all this. A happiness I could embrace but now? No... I've lived too long. If I ever die I want to just stop existing. Anything beyond that is just tiring."

"Shiiiit...yeah, I do." He sucks air through his teeth, a low hiss. "I ended up here on this island in...god, '78 I think? How far back do you wanna go? I was born into what nowadays would be an upper middle class suburban household. My mother was a housewife and my father was a bastard. Did you know it was normal to beat your kids back then? You could beat your wife too. Nobody really have a shit. The man held all the power. Not that it matters now. That was sixty-seven years ago. A long fucking time."
