K so I watched Mad Max today for film studies...
There's probably a lot I could say about the artistry of the film, the colour palette, the score, the minimal dialogue, the action set sequences...the setting in a post-apocalyptic world where society has devolved into a dystopian reflection of all the things wrong with humanity and a very primitive way of life, though there is seemingly always hope as reflected in the work of Furiosa and Max throughout the film.
Nah I'll save that for class. No, what I wanna talk about is how friggen dedicated that guitarist was. Like first of all, a guitarist in this crazy world is probably hella rare. Like who has the time to learn that shit in this sorta society. But nah, idk if he was forced to or he was someone who happened to know or he learnt specifically for the scary Immortan whatever whatever his name was but that's some skill he has, having learnt to play a guitar and they scrounged up an electric guitar for him to use and then he plays it atop a violently swaying, moving vehicle within what is basically a moving war zone. AND SPEAKING OF!!!
Idk if he was some sort of slave or what but holy crap he kept going through the sand storm, through all the fighting and cars exploding and even when Max ends up on his little stage, when pretty much all other cars were busted up and left behind, somehow the music rig was still running like tf??? And he's still trying to just play his tunes so they could have a sick battle soundtrack to travel with.
Dedication, my friends. I can only hope to attain that much fervour in my future career.
