TODAY'S FACT IS
Did you know that the Imperial Moth (Eacles Imperialis) is a species on the decline? These beautiful moths are typically found throughout much of the American continents though they are getting harder and harder to find. Part of that is their natural camouflage to look like discarded leaves but other parts are due to habitat loss, pesticide use, or introduced predators to control other insects.

we made a front porch friend.
we’re pretty sure she’s a female imperial moth but bug people are more than welcome to leave any info they have!! she’s hanging on to a dry spot on our front stoop and it’s been raining all day, so i’m willing to bet she’s either drying her wings or waiting for a mate (or both!)
some more photos below the cut because she was SO so beautiful. wanted to pet her fuzzy little body but was too afraid i’d startle/injure her so i just gave her a free photoshoot instead lol
