Mom’s Words - ML One-Shot

As his younger sister of two years Juleka was away for the weekend, staying in Milan with their friends Marinette and Adrien for fashion week as a photographer, he had been tasked with the duty of watching her four-year-old daughter, Viveka.
Luka had been hungry for something such as leftover lunch-meat in the fridge, so of course, he’d went downstairs to get it. After all, Kagami was out driving around the neighborhood to try and get their own daughter along with Juleka and Rose’s younger child, Lilli to sleep, even though they were both slightly over age one.
“Where’s the food?” he grumbled, dissatisfied with not being able to find it. But that wasn’t the worst thing for him, as he felt something hard and heavy drop onto his left toe. “Shit!” he cursed.
“Shit.” another voice repeated. Despite how spooky he found him being repeated, Luka slowly turned his head over to the hallway, finding a pajama-clothed Viveka standing there, hands on her hips and blue eyes full of her usual toddler attitude.
“What are you doing here, Little Miss?” he asked her.
“Shit.” she repeated yet again, for the second time.
Luka now instantly felt guilty and petrified about how his niece had caught onto his habits of cursing, and if Juleka or Rose knew this, they would kill him without a drop of hesitation.
“No, we don’t say that word!” he anxiously laughed in a fake tone. “That’s your mommy’s word.” he explained, lying. “She coined it, it belongs to her.”
Viveka looked like, despite her age and incapability of understanding, she didn’t believe her Uncle Luka’s lies one bit. “Why you up?”
“Because I got some important shit going on here,” Luka answered, looking back into the fridge. “Now, go back to bed, sweetheart.”
Viveka walked away confused, not knowing why Luka had acted so hypocritical with saying the new word she learned. “Little shit.”

Once she’d gotten back, Kagami didn’t want to let anyone know that she’d seen the entire interaction between Luka and Viveka through the porch’s window, so she texted Juleka about it privately. She would’ve contacted Rose too, but she was in Atchoo by request of Prince-now-King Ali to help with sick children, considering her job as a nurse.
Juleka spit out her entire drink of water when being told the story by her sister-in-law, as even though she didn’t want her kids to swear so young, it was definitely a priceless level of funny. “He what?!” she wheezed, bending over and clutching her stomach.
“Okay, that is hilarious!” Juleka hollered. “You have to tell me more about it once I return in three days, okay?”
