I’m just saying Marinette/ Adrien/ Kagami/ Luka polycule has amazing potential.

I’m not good at explaining things, so please accept this terrible graph instead.

Kagami x marinette: It’s like opposites attract— Marinette is social and energetic, Kagami is introverted and mature. The twist? They’re both autistic. Kagami cannot pick up social cues for the life of her and marinettes special interest is people she likes. Marinette thinks Kagami is amazing, in every way. She wonders all the time how she got so lucky. Meanwhile Kagami, who isn’t used to all the affection, tries to reciprocate by sharing little things she finds interesting. This works out swimmingly, because mariennets favorite thing is cataloging every interesting thing her darling are interested in inside a binder twice as thick as a textbook and three times as heavy. No one know how Marinette manages to lift the dang thing, but every shiny rock and interesting feather Kagami has given her are neatly cataloged and labeled.

Marinette x Luka: this plays out much like the show, but unlike the show this doesn’t end in heartbreak, and Luka is no second choice. He and Marinette are both big on gift giving, she’s always designing him stage outfits and baking treats, while Luka has an entire notebook dedicated to love songs about her (and his other partners of course!) the two are a big sappy pile of emotional support. Luka knows Marinette has secrets and insecurities, and he lets her know that’s ok! .. which, of course, only makes her fall for him more. Oh nooooooooo… (>3)

Luka and Kagami: when I tell you Luka is the pillar for this polycule, I mean it, an it really shows in how he and Kagami interact. She’s never mean to him, but at the start she doesn’t trust how kind and supportive he is, especially since they don’t know each other that well. But as time goes on, she begins to trust that he really means it when he says he likes her, and she thinks she might like him too. She’s doesn’t know what to do about this though, so instead of being sane and normal and just telling her partner she likes him, she’s decides to invite him to a championship, win the whole thing, and give him the grand prize as a ‘token of her favor’. Did I mention Lukas love language is gift giving? Well, Kagamis love language is acts of service. Needless to say they hit it off after that. Luka helps Kagami relax, and Kagami would do anything to protect him. Marinette, too, of course, but—All of them, really.

Luka x Adrien: this one might be a bit out there, but I think Adrien’s “chat noir” side would really come out when he’s with Luka. While he’s obviously relaxed around all of them, there’s something about Luka’s unflapping support and calm that makes Adrien feel childish- in a good way. Luke he’s allowed to be as cheeky and chaotic as he wants. He takes full advantage of this, flirting and teasing Luka every chance he gets. Luka normally just laughs, but he reciprocates too, which may or may not leave Adrien speechless for the rest of the day.

Adrien x Kagami: woo! It’s our second canon couple people, and not a moment too soon. Now, this one is… tricky. You don’t see many fans of this ship, and for good reason. They lack chemistry, and are show to clash badly when ina. Romantic relationship. Kagami desire for perfect and Adrien’s carefree spirit are a terrible matchup, and it hurts them both. But that doesn’t mean they don’t care about each other! They do, and they’re shown to understand each other in ways no one else does. But I don’t think they work in an explicitly romantic relationship—and over time, I think they understand that. Ironically, it’s being in a polycule that makes their relationship more platonic. Marinette and Luca both help Kagami relax, and let go of perfect. Luca makes her feel safe and supported, while Marinette gives her a feeling of wonder and curiosity. Meanwhile, Adrien is given opportunities to come out of his shell and be himself in a way Kagami simply could not help him do. Over time, I think the lack of need for each other as a pillar of support and understanding would make their relationship more relaxed, and then more platonic— and then absolute chaos. You see, these kids have been repressed their whole lives. Their relationship wa built off sneaking away from bodyguards to do thing they weren’t allowed to otherwise. Give then unconditional support and freedom, and nothing can stop them. These two become entropic gremlins down for anything and everything— and I do mean everything. Adrien wants to jump in the seine fully clothed? Kagami is in the water before he can finish the sentence. Kagami is hungry for ice cream at three am? Luca and Marinette are asleep, but Adrien is already out the window tracking André like a bloodhound. In the end, everyone needs some excitement in their lives- and these two have each other covered.

Last but not least— out protagonists.

Let’s talk about Adrienette.

Adrien x Marinette: now, I don’t want to be salty, but I hate how Adrienette is treated in the show. I’m not trying to be mean! Everyone is allow their own opinions, but I think marinettes fanatic behavior towards Adrien is creepy, and it’s even worse when Adrien is show to be wildly uncomfortable with his other fans— who Marinette is just as bad as, if not worse. At least fans don’t have access to Adrien’s private life, but marinette does, and she takes advantage of this way too often. So long story short, I’m cutting marinettes obsession with Adrien out of this equation entirely. So without further ado—

Adrienette!! I think without the obsession, marinettes crush on Adrien could be really cute. Not only because seeing a bold and chatty character get flustered and quiet is fun to me, or because I love how deeply Marinette is shown to care about Adrien from a distance in the show (*cough*when she’s not stalking him *cough*)but because of how this behavior might appear to Adrien. Sure, everyone else knows about her massive crush on the boy, but he’s just an oblivious cinnamon roll! He can barely believe it when Luka says he likes his puns, but marinette all people liking him? Out of the question! Instead, he’s more likely to assume she just doesn’t like him that much, which is hilarious to me. Adrien “she’s just a friend” agreste unable to understand why Marinette wouldn’t like him. He thinks she’s amazing, really talented and kind, so obviously he wants her to like him! He’d try all the time to get closer to her, making puns or joking around with her. After a while, Marinette begins to relax around her. Adriens just too silly to be nervous around for long! She likes his puns, and his blond hair, and his green eyes, and the way he cares so much about his cat—

Oh. Oh god. Ohhhhhhhhh.

So anyway, the reveal happens!

I think it’s only a matter of time honestly, these two have the subtly of a moose. I genuinely don’t know how they’ve lasted this long.

After the reveal, their relationship is fundamentally changed in all the best ways. Marinette isn’t nervous around Adrien anymore on account of ‘that’s her kitty cat’, and Adrien isn’t worried Marinette hates him anymore on account of marinettes immediately calling him her kitty cat without a lick of hesitation. The change in dynamic is so abrupt Kagami and Luka worry they’ve been transported into some alternate timeline— until the catch the two kissing as marinette and chat noir on marinettes roof, and it all just kinda falls into place from there.

And that’s it! That’s my wildly over analyzed take on Luka x Marinette x Adrien x Kagami.

Miraculous Theoretical Reboot Concept Art—Lukagami

So I really wanted to post this Lukagami Art I made for my Miraculous Theoretical reboot—you know, the one with Emily as the Ladybug in it and fusion powers? No? Well, it is kinda half baked at the moment, but the it’s basically a rewrite with extra steps. (You know how Spider-Man has, like, ten adaptations? This is like an adaptation concept rather than a critical rewrite, if that makes sense.) And in this version of the story, this Lukagami ship is a thing. Now, Believe it or not, I actually like Feligami in the show proper—there’s a certain vibe to it that just makes it so entertaining to watch. And honestly, I get why the show didn’t go with Luka and Kagami as a ship instead, but I promise I thought about it a lot, and this just works better for what I’m doing.

For one thing, I reworked the powers of the dragon a bit—

And when I say a bit, I actually mean a lot. Completely new power set, weapon and miraculous. The power is a sort of Taunt ability that makes the user the center of attention, basically making it so that enemies can’t take their eyes off the user. Since the ability is less offensive now, and the user needs a way to protect themselves from oncoming attacks while other holders finish the fight, I gave her a more defensive weapon—a kite. It acts as a sort of shield/hand-glider/bludgeon, and just seemed more versatile and multi-use than the sword did. The miraculous is also now a hair spike instead of a necklace, with the reason for that being that I just wanted to add more variety to the miraculous pool, and there were already two other necklaces and a choker, so… why not, right?

Anyway, why would this affect shipping? Uh, it’s kind of complicated, but basically the dragon and the snakes power-sets just balance each other now. The Dragon can’t make any mistakes or it’s game over, but the snake can give the dragon a second chance. Vise-versa the snake is usually an immediate target for enemies who know what it does, but does it’s best work when it goes unnoticed, and the dragon’s power can draw attention away from the snake and allow it to do it’s thing. So they kind of just naturally fall into a sort of partnership with each other in that sense. Luka’s character in this version is all about passive observance and helping out on the sidelines, while Kagami is about standing front and center and acting decisively. They just work too well. So, yeah… I don’t know. I’ll probably draw more art of them together sometime so I can show y’all why I think it’s a good idea.
