a little post-canon Plance oneshot
Prompt: “I’ve had a rough day and honestly all I want right now is a drink and someone to cuddle with.” (courtesy of Pinterest)

“Hello?”
“Can I stay at your place tonight?”
“Hey Lance, nice to hear from you.”
“Look, Pidge, I’ve had a rough day and I really need a drink and an evening with my best friend.”
“Yeah, sure. Movie?”
“I’d rather not.”
“Okay, see you soon.”
Ten minutes after the phone call Pidge buzzed Lance into her building. He turned up at her door still in his Galaxy Garrison officer’s uniform, hair a complete mess, and his messenger bag over his shoulder.
“Did you come here straight from work?” She asked.
Lance collapsed in a heap on the couch. “I stopped for a burger on the way.”
Pidge went into her room. The bottom drawer of her dresser was all Lance’s stuff, mostly spare clothes. She picked sweats and a T-shirt at random and tossed them at his face on her way to the kitchen. “Get changed then come and pick your poison.”
He shot her a lazy salute then hauled himself to the bathroom. Pidge considered her booze cabinet. Last time Shiro was here he’d expressed a lot of concern about how much alcohol she kept at her place. Once a space dad, forever a space dad, and it’s only gotten worse since he and Curtis adopted a baby a few months ago.
Really, she just liked having a variety to pick from. She’s had some of these bottles for three or four years.
Pidge poured herself a scotch. Lance emerged and sat himself on the stool across the counter from her. He seemed marginally less cranky.
“What can I get you?” She playfully tossed a kitchen towel over her shoulder like a bartender.
“Got any Coke left?”
“Yep.”
“Then a rum and coke, please.”
“Coming right up.” Lance just rested his head in his hand while he watched her mix the drink. Pidge half expected him to drink it all in one go when she slid the glass over. But he closed his eyes and took one sip, as if savoring the taste.
“Thanks Pidge.”
“Any time.” She picked up her own drink. “So what brings you down to the local watering hole tonight?”
“At least half my students failed their flight midterms.” He took a deeper swig of his drink. “The other faculty are riding my ass to improve their scores.”
Pidge frowned. “That sounds like it’s on the kids.”
He rubbed his forehead, eyebrows all scrunched together. “But I’m their instructor, right? Their work reflects mine. I’m worried I’m not cut out for teaching them.”
“These are recruits, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Half of them are getting weeded out of the program after this year anyway.”
He grunted.
She chewed her lip. Pidge wasn’t one for empty platitudes. It felt too much like lying and not substantial enough to be of any help. That said, she’d learned the hard way Lance was sensitive and didn’t always respond to super direct advice.
Actually that did give her an idea. “You haven’t been teaching long, Lance. Some of it’s going to be trial and error. So if you think they’re not learning, try a different method.” She took his free hand and rubbed his fingers where they curled around hers. “Don’t beat yourself up about it. You’ll figure it out. Also...I know you. I know you’ll be there for your students no matter what. There’s no way you’re not ‘cut out’ for this.”
Lance gave her such a soft smile her bones suddenly became like 30% jelly. He leaned forward a bit and kissed her cheek. “Thank you, Pidge. I’m lucky you’re in my life.”
Pidge’s face heated. She awkwardly extracted her hand and downed the rest of her scotch. Then poured herself another. “Any time. Next time I have a robot explode I’ll come crying about it to you and crash at your place again.”
Lance held out his glass towards hers expectantly. She clinked them together and they both drank. “It’s practically a tradition now. I have like half of your pajamas at home.”
They moved to the couch and continued talking for a while. Catching up with him felt nice. Actually, nice wasn’t strong enough a word. His presence felt warm and comforting. A metaphorical fuzzy blanket. Both their schedules were so busy that Pidge hadn’t properly seen him in over a week. That was...too long.
When Pidge started yawning Lance tugged her up and led her to her bed. He collapsed on the other side. She liked to sprawl out at night and had spared no expense in getting a huge bed to do so. With so much room to spare, it seemed cruel to relegate Lance to the couch so this was their usual arrangement.
With a good foot of space between them.
Tonight, if Pidge felt Lance’s arm slide over her waist and his nose nuzzle into her hair, she didn’t say anything.
Quick hanahaki pidge drabble
This is meant to be the ending but knowing me, idk if i’ll actually finish it. Warnings for angst and character death under the cut. There are no ships but very lightly implied plance ^^
What was left of Pidge’s attention was drawn to a faint sound only inches from her door.“Y’know I’m just worried about her”, it was Hunk talking to somebody, “she’s been off for weeks and now she refuses to leave her room I don’t want to be nosy but something’s up”.She heard footsteps as they walked past and felt her chest spasm again. The guilt hit her. In an effort stop them worrying and cause more issues, Pidge had only made it all so much worse
.But, she didn’t have time to dwell as her chest heaved again and brought up roses, the thorns cutting her throat and bringing up even more blood. Pidge knew basic biology, losing this much blood could never be good and with her legs to weak to stand and throat past even whispers, she curled up and sent a brief message to all of the Paladins, a single word, ‘help’.
At that point the pain became unbearable, every breath was laboured and set her lungs alight and the thorns just kept coming. She knew it was nearly time. Her pillow was soaked in her own blood and her fingers shook as she typed out a final message.‘I love all of you guys’.
Another cluster of petals came just moments after that, suffocating her. While she did struggle for air, her body was too far gone and the battle was in vain. Suddenly, she felt oddly calm. The pain ceased as she remembered all of her family; all she’d done to find her dad and Matt, her mum. An image of the paladins flashed in front of her eyes and she tried to hold on to it.But none of it worked, as her body convulsed and she slipped into the darkness, welcoming its warm, pain-free embrace. Keith returned early from the group training session due to his injuries and everything seemed normal until he checked his phone.
PIDGE
-help
-I love you guys Alarm bells sounded in Keith’s head. Something must have happened. He sprinted back to the training room, fueled by adrenaline and sheer worry. “Guys! I think something’s happened to Pidge and it seems urgent!”, he shouted. The paladins were all already concerned about her, which only fueled the anxiety of the room. All 6 of the paladins ran towards Pidge’s room as the tension in the air grew thicker and thicker. Finally, they arrived there and Allura managed to override the lock on the door. The paladins were instantly hit with a sickly-sweet smell, almost like “flowers”, Hunk whispered. His face dropped as he knew and he ran into the room. Then he saw her.It couldn’t be real. It just couldn’t.
He stared in shock as his knees gave out and a loud sob was pulled from his chest. His best friend was laying there. Her entire room was covered in blue petals and dotted with thorns. He would have thought she was sleeping, if not for her blood soaked pillow and her face looking so white. His best friend was dead. The rest of the paladins rushed in, alerted by Hunk. They were all still. Nobody said a word as the shock of what had really happened set in.
Pidge: *yawns and almost dozes off while standing&
Lance: Pidge, you need to use the sleep
Lance: ...
Lance: I need to use the sleep
College AU - Kidge (Platonic)
for @dancing-in-plance
These two nerds get into MIT together and their dorms are like in front of the other
Pidge's roommate is this random girl in journalism and Shiro's Keith's roommate
They're both antisocial as heck so on party days they stay in and watch Lord of the Rings or something
Friends who study together procrastinate together.
Pidge is EXTREMELY messy and Keith is organized ... cue Keith spending a weekend cleaning Pidge's dorm when he sees her mess of papers and the textbooks spread everywhere.
Keith knowing Pidge's coffee order by heart because of morning coffee runs.
They both make fun of Lance together.
Neither of them can cook so they share a love for Ramen noodles.
Keith literally just barges into Pidge's dorm and surprises Pidge's roommate.
Keith crashes on Pidge's couch when Allura visits Shiro in his dorm cuz he can't stand the fluff
Pidge gags every time her roomie implies that Keith is cute
Keith teases Pidge of her height and she teases him of his mullet.
the two spend hours in the library studying together, cuz with both their smarts they can do anything (I headcanon that Keith is actually really smart so)
the two go out for drinks every time they pass a midterm and Keith ends up having to carry Pidge back as she screams the Imperial March at the top of her lungs
Pidge calls Keith Nico when she's drunk because he "Looks like Nico di Angelo"
Keith in turn calls Pidge Annabeth and she gets all hyped because she gets to date the son of Poseidon (she calls Lance Percy when she's drunk ;) )
Both of them get depressed in finals week and leave all their studying for the last week and then they practically move into the library to study and don't get out till after their finals.
They both study so much together and Keith already knows a whole bunch of Computer Science stuff and Pidge is practically an expert in Aeronautical Engineering (idk if that's a major so???)
Shiro sometimes finds the two asleep on the couch with their textbooks wide open and Harry Potter playing on the TV
((I actually don't know anything about college life cuz I'm only 15 but I hope it was pretty accurate))
