On peut pas écrire que c'est importable. Alors on dit 'jeux de volumes'. Les lectrices comprennent.

I'm having conflicting feelings toward the church right now too. I've been thinking a lot about how it kind of suppresses historical facts sometimes to keep up a certain appearance? Like how it doesn't acknowledge all of the details of how certain Scriptures came to be written, or how it denies certain scientific ideas because they don't perfectly correlate to what is written in the Scriptures. Would you agree?
To a certain degree, yeah!
The church has been making a lot of progress lately in owning up to some of its history though! Like it’s starting to endorse articles relating to polygamy and controversy surriounding the legitimacy of Abraham, and so on. As much as it still has a difficult time de-romanticizing its history, it’s getting better.
And while it’s not an official LDS church website, the FAIR website has always been a nice open source for Mormons to explore controversial topics.
Which scientific ideas? When it comes to evolution, the church actually doesn’t have any official stance. In the past there was actually a lot of in-fighting amongst general authorities about the subject.
When it comes to contradicting archeology/DNA evidence, though… Yeah. IDEK.
I actually just read (some of) that post after I saw yours on the Mormon tag too. I understand your point. I had just been scrolling though the tag and came across it after seeing a bunch of other annoying stuff so I just assumed. I come from being Catholic to Mormonism so I tend to already think in that other "Christian mindset" where all the churches are Christian, but I definitely understand why you'd prefer "Mormon" it does help in a lot of ways to clarify because we are quite different.
Yeah!! Totally understand where those differences come from. Being born in the church VS converting to the church can bring very different perspectives, and both are important and valid!
How can you post something that is so absolutely against mormonism. Mormons are Christian. The word literally means "follower of Christ"!
It was a parodical response to this post. I posted it mainly because I was annoyed.
I’m entirely aware that Mormons are Christian. I would classify them as “Restorationist Christian.” (as opposed to protestant or orthodox. People get confused by whether or not we are Christians partly because we aren’t protestants, like most Christians are.)
While growing up I generally preferred being called Mormon to being called Christian. Partly because the majority of my experience with Christians in the past were with confrontational evangelicals, and I didn’t wish to associate my identity with them in any way. I’ve come to appreciate more things about mainline Christianity in the past few years, but I still hold a lot of that resentment.
Mormons are Christians but they aren’t those Christians. I’ve come to a point where I feel like, if they don’t want us, we don’t need them, and I don’t feel the need to justify how legitimately Christian we are. I think it’s much easier to take pride in being called a Mormon, or if you prefer, a Latter-day Saint.
The term “Christian” brings up associations and assumptions to people apart from its strict definition, and we do not fit within that set of associations. (One of the most basic ones; we don’t wear or display crosses!) Because of this I feel it’s fairly reasonable to be Mormon and not feel that the label “Christian” applies to you. Even though in a strictly taxonomical sense, yeah, we’re Christians.
importable replied to your photo “Tea Time. Fox Mug. :)”
Where did you get this!?
I got the mug from a little shop in Knoxville but you can find a different colored version on Amazon if you search "kitschn glam" (the name of the company).
