Adam had lived most of his life as an orphan, navigating the world with a deep sense of solitude. The adults in his village often frightened him with their stern faces and harsh voices, their indifference making him feel invisible. Even the other children, with their boisterous laughter and intricate games, sometimes intimidated him, each taunt or exclusion echoing in his mind long after the moment had passed.
At the age of ten, when most boys his age were in school learning, Adam found solace by the docks of his quaint island village. The salty air filled his lungs as he wandered along the weather-beaten wooden planks, searching for treasures hidden in the tide. His large hands would sift through the intricacies of seashells, each one a tiny masterpiece formed by the ocean. He often paused to help any little creatures in distress—crabs struggling to right themselves or seagulls trapped in fishing lines—as a flicker of compassion lit up his heart.
When the sun reached its zenith, casting a golden hue across the rippling water, Adam would simply lie down beneath the docks, feeling the cool shade protect him from the harsh sun. It wasn’t always comfortable; the rough wooden beams pressed into his back, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore sometimes echoed in his ears like an endless chant. There were days when hunger gnawed at his stomach, a constant reminder of his bleak circumstances. Yet, despite the trials he faced, he cherished his island village with an unshakeable fondness. It was here, among the gentle whispers of the sea and the cawing of the gulls, that he felt most alive, a small boy in a vast world, dreaming of a brighter future.
It was also where he met the being that would change his life forever. The sun was dipping low on the horizon, casting a golden hue over the sandy expanse of the beach, where Adam often sought solace. Today, however, the salty air was tinged with an edge of desperation. His stomach grumbled audibly, a stark reminder of the meals he had missed. He had attempted to grab a few morsels from the food vendors earlier, but their sharp voices and menacing glares had driven him away, leaving him empty-handed and fraught with irritation. But Adam pushed those feelings aside, repeating silently to himself that he didn’t care about the food or the ridicule. He would cling to that thought, fostering an unwarranted sense of pride until it morphed into belief.
As he meandered along the worn path of the beach, his gaze was drawn northward, where a cacophony of yelps and hoots pierced the otherwise tranquil atmosphere. The distinctive sound of high-pitched laughter sent a chill down his spine; it was an all-too-familiar symphony that spoke of trouble. A band of boys, renowned for their penchant for picking on the defenseless, had been wreaking havoc on any small creature they chanced upon. Memories of their taunts and sneers played like a haunting melody in his mind. Adam's fists clenched tightly at his sides, determination igniting within him. He wouldn’t allow them to prey on the creatures of the shore this time.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Adam sprinted down the sandy beach, the sound of laughter echoing in the warm afternoon air. His heart raced as he approached the scene, and he slid to a halt, leaving a trail of fine grains beneath his feet. The moisture on his forehead began to bead as he took in the sight before him—a small group of boys, probably around seven or eight years old, clustered together in a circle. Even though they were younger and a bit smaller in stature, Adam had always been taller and broader than most of his peers at ten.
In the center of their attention was a small, trembling creature, the source of its muffled whimpers evident in the way the boys kicked and taunted it. Rage surged through Adam as he realized what was happening; instinctively, he surged forward, ready to protect the defenseless animal. The laughter that had filled the air was replaced by shouts and yelling as Adam confronted the trio, his voice rising above their jeers.
The confrontation quickly escalated into a chaotic struggle, with Adam shoving and shouting as he tried to shield the small creature from further harm. The boys, once bold and confident, quickly realized they were outmatched and began to retreat, their laughter fading into terrified cries as they scurried away, calling out for their parents. As silence settled over the beach, Adam knelt, his heart still pounding, to check on the little animal who had been the target of their cruelty.
Only… it was no ordinary creature that lay before him. This being was a bit taller, and if he were upright he would be towering over the ten-year-old boy. Its body was a bizarre tapestry of red and white skin, slick and iridescent in the filtered sunlight, contrasting sharply with the golden sands of the beach. Jagged fangs jutted menacingly from its maw, gleaming like polished ivory. But perhaps the most disconcerting feature of all was the tentacles that writhed restlessly on the ground, leaving shallow impressions in the sand as they gestured in a seemingly anxious dance.
Adam's heart raced, pounding in his chest like a drum; he instinctively swallowed hard, his throat dry and tight with fear. The thought of being devoured by such a creature sent a shiver coursing down his spine. His initial instinct was to bolt—to turn on his heels and sprint away from this nightmarish figure. But just as he prepared to flee, a soft, plaintive whimper reached his ears, halting him in his tracks.
Curiosity wrestled with terror as he turned slightly, his breath hitching when he encountered the creature's gaze. Those glowing red eyes held an unexpected depth; they shimmered with pain yet communicated a profound sense of fear. At that moment, Adam realized that the creature was not just a predator lying in wait; it was terrified as well, caught in a situation it didn't understand.
Adam sighed heavily, a mix of compassion and responsibility flooding through him. He felt a strange kinship with this strange being, both of them ensnared by their own fears. "I'm going to have to do the right thing here...aren't I?" He muttered.
Carrying the creature was a daunting task, especially given the palpable tension between them; it was clear they both harbored deep-seated distrust for one another. Adam, his heart racing and palms slick with sweat, tried to sound more assertive than he felt. "Look," he began, his voice wavering yet determined, "I'm trying to help you. If I leave you here, you'll die. Is that what you really want?"
The creature responded with a low, rumbling growl that rumbled from deep within its throat. Adam’s pulse quickened, and he swallowed hard, forcing himself to push past his fear and carry on. "Well? Let’s prove those kids who hurt you wrong, okay?" he urged, trying to inject some conviction into his words.
For a moment, the creature merely huffed in response, a puff of air escaping its nostrils, as if it were deliberating Adam’s intentions. Yet, there was a flicker in its large, wary eyes—a hint of understanding, perhaps, or a willingness to trust. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the creature seemed to concede to Adam’s plea.
Relief washed over him like a warm tide, but as he felt the weight of the creature shifting in his grasp, a nagging thought crept in: if he had known that saving this remarkable sea creature would be so fraught with difficulty and uncertainty, he might have hesitated a bit longer before diving into this intricate dance of trust and fear. Adam tightened his grip, resolved to navigate the challenges ahead, both for himself and for the creature he was determined to save.
Adam gently placed the strange creature onto a cool, damp floor of a small cave, feeling the rough texture of the rock beneath his fingertips. As he studied the creature, he noticed that several of its long, slender tentacles were missing, leaving jagged stubs where they had once been. A pang of empathy surged through him, and he winced at the thought of the pain it must have endured to lose those appendages.
"Okay, I can try to get some—" Adam was abruptly interrupted by a sharp yelp that escaped his lips. In an attempt to push himself up from the jagged ground, he had inadvertently pressed his palm against the rough, unforgiving surface of the rocky wall. A sudden, stinging pain shot through his hand as he felt a jagged edge bite into his skin. "Jeez..." Adam muttered under his breath, frustration mixing with the sting of the cut.
As he prepared to wipe the crimson stain onto his shirt, he suddenly felt a cold, slimy tentacle coil around his waist. A chill ran down Adam's spine as he belatedly realized the creature had ensnared him. He froze, the blood on his hand momentarily forgotten, as dread washed over him. The child instinctively stifled a scream, but to his surprise, the creature did not lunge or attack. Instead, it brought its form closer, its eyes studying him curiously as it gingerly sniffed his palm. In that surreal moment, Adam understood that it had no intention of harming him; it was merely inquisitive, and the fear that had gripped him started to wane.
He was not prepared for the creature to lick at his palm. Adam wrinkled his nose. "Ew. What are you doing?" The tongue was rough on his bare skin and he wiggled in the creature's grasp. It must have known that it was weird because he immediately looked at Adam with a pleading gaze before gesturing to his still-bleeding palm. Adam sighed reluctantly. "Fine. Go ahead." For some reason, the creature's face went red but it continued to lap at the crimson liquid falling from his palm.
Adam stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief as he witnessed a transformation right before him. Lucifer's body emanated a soft, dull red glow that pulsed like a heartbeat, casting an otherworldly light across the dim room. The creature's skin, marred by small cuts and bruises, began to mend as if some unseen force were stitching the wounds closed. Each laceration faded away, leaving behind nothing but smooth skin, a process that felt like pure magic to the ten-year-old. The creature smiled at Adam as he gave one more lick to Adam’s palm before letting him go.
"Had your fill? Good." Adam remarked, trying to keep his tone light despite the strange situation. The tingling sensation in his palm still lingered, a reminder of the bizarre encounter he had just experienced, but he chose not to voice it.
Before him, the creature sat motionless, its deep red eyes glinting with an almost intelligent curiosity. It seemed to absorb every word he spoke. Adam shifted a little, the weight of the moment pressing down on him. "Well...are you hungry?" he asked, a hint of hope lacing his voice.
In response, the creature perked up, an eagerness evident in its posture. It nodded enthusiastically, its movements fluid and almost graceful, which made Adam tilt his head in surprise. "You know...you're pretty smart," he continued, the admiration creeping into his voice. "I wish I could talk to you."
At that, something unexpected happened. The creature's skin flushed a vibrant shade of crimson, and it turned its face away, seemingly embarrassed by the compliment. Adam blinked, taken aback. Well, that was odd, he thought, as he watched the creature's demeanor shift from eager to bashful in an instant.
Suddenly, the creature gestured to its mouth, blowing air out before pointing to its throat. Adam blinked at it, trying to decipher what the hell he was witnessing. The creature turned a darker shade of red, before gesturing towards Adam to come closer. The child hesitated before complying. He didn't fight it when two tentacles wrapped around his face to make his mouth. When the creature blew air down his throat, Adam flinched but let it happen.
The creature released its hold on Adam, a wide and unsettling smile spreading across its face. “There. Now we can finally have a conversation,” it said, its voice a curious blend of smooth and gravelly tones. Adam blinked rapidly, processing the scene before him. Once, twice—then, impulsively, he let out a piercing scream that echoed off the damp walls of the underwater chamber.
The creature flinched at the sudden noise, its eyes widening in surprise. "Why are you screaming?!" It exclaimed, the earnestness of its query cutting through the panic that had seized Adam.
Backing away, his heart racing, Adam stammered, “You can talk?!” The creature, momentarily taken aback by his disbelief, adopted a deadpan expression and replied, “Of course I can! It’s you humans who struggle to understand us! Blowing air into your throat was the only way I could communicate with you that didn't involve you being underwater!”
Adam barely absorbed the creature's words as he continued to fixate on the floor, grappling with the surreal revelation. “You can talk… you can actually talk,” he murmured, the incredulity in his voice betraying the turmoil churning within him.
He stared at the creature and the creature stared back. "Do...do you have a name?" The creature smiled. "Lucifer."
Despite his lingering wariness of Lucifer, Adam found himself drawn to the injured creature nestled within the shadowy crevices of the cave cliff. Adam had witnessed the creature’s resilience and the strange bond that had formed between them, compelling him to continue visiting as much as he found himself questioning his instincts. Each encounter deepened his curiosity about Lucifer, a being both captivating and enigmatic.
Whenever Lucifer turned his piercing gaze upon Adam and requested something— to drink his blood—Adam felt a flicker of skepticism rise within him. “It helps heal me faster,” Lucifer would insist, his voice a soothing whisper that seemed to echo softly in the cavernous space around them. While Adam couldn't entirely shake the unease that bubbled in his gut, he had observed the tangible results over time. Each time he complied with Lucifer’s requests to drink his blood, he witnessed the creature’s wounds closing a little more, colors returning to the pallid skin.
As Adam relented, offering what he could, he found himself softened by the gratitude that radiated from Lucifer. The creature’s smile, though it bore the marks of pain, was genuine and warm, illuminating the dark enclosure and, against all odds, making Adam smile in return. It was a shared moment of understanding that tethered their fates, unraveling the tension that filled the space between them. The cave, once a mere shelter for Lucifer, was transformed into a sanctuary of unexpected camaraderie, where Adam slowly began to accept the strange connection they shared.
One day, he couldn't help but ask a burning question. "What are you exactly?" Lucifer turned his head, wiping the blood from his lips. "I'm a Kraken. We...are about the same age. I actually might be younger than you." Adam blinked. "You're younger than ten?" Lucifer nodded slowly. "Yes. I believe I'm nine." Adam smiled mischievously. "I'm older!" Lucifer gave him a mock glare. "Don't let that go to your head."
"Too late! I'm the boss!"
Adam noticed pretty early on that Lucifer liked to bite him. Sometimes they were okay and he at first started just biting his fingers. Then, it escalated to biting his arm and shoulders. Legs. Anytime Adam did something to excite him, he bit Adam. They kind of hurt but Lucifer had seemed happy so Adam had let it slide.
Until one day Lucifer bit a little too hard and Adam pulled away. The look on his face made Adam's heart clench. Tears formed in his eyes as the devastated look kept getting worse.
“Why? Why?” Lucifer didn't seem able to communicate properly while he was so upset. Adam held him as the Kraken sobbed and the human had no idea how to help him. Finally, out of desperation, he bit Lucifer's hand. The Kraken looked at him in surprise. He kept biting, hoping he wasn't messing things up further.
When he bit Lucifer's arm, the Kraken blushed a bright gold. The beast didn't say anything for a minute. To the point that Adam thought he went too far. That is until Lucifer suddenly launched at him, pinning him to the floor. His face was nipped at and Adam laughed as Luci was back to his old self.

That is until Lucifer suddenly launched at him, pinning him to the floor. His face was nipped at and Adam laughed as Luci was back to his old self.
Adam turned eleven today, a milestone that made his heart swell with excitement. The sun flooded the sky in brilliant hues as he hurried toward the familiar cliff cave, eager to share the news with his friend, Lucifer. With each step, he thought about how much he had grown over the past few months—both in height and in an understanding of the world around him. He couldn’t wait to show Lucifer just how much bigger and more mature he had become.
As he approached the cave, a sense of nostalgia washed over him. It was a place filled with memories—the sound of their laughter echoing against the stone walls, the adventures they had shared, and the challenges they had faced together. Hidden from the eyes of the village and the persistent scouting from the ports, the cave was their home and treasure. Upon the walls were littered with the cravings of their would be deeds. The adventures and sights they would someday see, filling Adam full of hope of a future as he never dared before. Maybe… just maybe… Stepping inside the cove, he was immediately struck by how much better Lucifer appeared. The scars that once marred his body were fading, and the dark pallor that had clung to him for so long was giving way to a healthier hue. It filled Adam with hope to see his friend almost fully healed.
"Lucifer!" Adam called out, his voice bouncing off the walls. A smile broke across Lucifer's face, brightening the dim cave. It was a smile that was both welcoming and oddly strained. Adam, caught up in the joy of turning eleven, was too blissfully absorbed in his own happiness to notice the flicker of agitation that crossed Lucifer's features.
As they exchanged greetings, Adam's mind raced with thoughts of games, stories, and birthday celebrations. But deep down, an unspoken truth lingered—Adam knew that the day would come when Lucifer would leave. He had always known it, a shadow that danced at the edge of his happiness. Three months felt far too short; the reality of separation weighed heavily on his heart, though he tried to push it aside. For today, he just wanted to bask in the joy of friendship and celebrate the present moment, even as the future loomed just beyond their shared laughter. All the while building up his courage to bridge the tension, to grasp his dream and entice his friend along side him. Ready to offer as much of himself as it took as long as Lucifer came back.
But as the day continued, he couldn't help but notice something else tinkering away at Lucifer’s thoughts. His gaze eerily unblinking as he stared either at him or nothing with an expression slipping through that Adam couldn’t recognize.
Adam tilted his head to the side, his brow furrowing as he observed Lucifer's unusually tense posture. Though time had don’t little to Lucifer’s petite demeanor, the kraken half had elongated. Bordering near massive compared to how Adam had initially found him. And it was Lucifer’s Kraken traits that never failed to give him away. Adam watched his friend shifting uncomfortably in the diminishing space; his tentacles curling slightly as if seeking solace in their own embrace. The strange skin a collage of varying shades of reds and pigments that half camouflaged Lucifer into the rock itself. Worse, was the longer time seemed to drag on, the more apparent Lucifer seemed determined not to meet his eyes. Like he couldn't bring himself to meet Adam's concerned gaze, eyes darting away as a hushed silence fall between them. The air becoming stifled by the unsaid words dangling overhead.
“Luci? What’s going on?” Adam asked gently, his voice steady yet laced with worry. “You seem upset.”
Lucifer's response was a strained smile, one that revealed his sharp fangs, glistening in the soft, ambient light. It was a disarming sight, yet it only intensified Adam's unease. The once-vibrant glimmer in Lucifer’s gaze seemed dulled, overshadowed by the weight of whatever was troubling him.
“Adam…you know I’ll always care about you…right?” Lucifer finally spoke, his voice low and hesitant, as if he were grappling with the implications of his own words.
Adam blinked in surprise, his mind racing to understand the sudden shift in their conversation. A dozen questions flitted through his thoughts; what could possibly cause such an emotional upheaval in his friend? The tension crackled in the air between them, and Adam felt an instinctual urge to bridge the distance, to understand what lay behind Lucifer's troubled exterior.
"Of course I—" Adam began to speak, but his words were abruptly cut off by a cacophony of screams that pierced through the stillness of the cave. The chilling sound sent a shiver down his spine as he was quick to realize from which direction the desperate cries were coming from. His head turning awards the familiar direction of town as panic surged through him like a tidal wave. The eleven-year-old sprang to his feet, adrenaline pumping in his veins, as he steeled himself to dash outside and assist those in peril. The sounds that echoed made the ground shutter beneath his feet. Inhuman and it was soon followed by a chorus of others that nearly drowned out the screams. Oh, god the screams-
“I'm sorry, Adam.” The voice was sorrowful and faint, barely registering in the chaos of his thoughts. Before Adam could comprehend its meaning, a sharp, searing pain exploded at the back of his neck, a sudden combustion of sharp agony blurring his senses. The boy staggered, struggling to maintain his balance, but the darkness began to encroach upon his vision.
In those final moments of consciousness, Adam caught a glimpse of Lucifer's red eyes—pools of regret mingled with a fierce determination. It was a fleeting image that carved itself into his mind as the world around him dissolved into oblivion. Sounds like cannons echoed somewhere faintly from a distance and screams of his village followed him into nothingness.
Adam stirred from a restless sleep, the throbbing pain in his head pulling him from the depths of unconsciousness. He brought a trembling hand to his forehead, wincing as his fingers grazed the tender skin. As his senses gradually sharpened, he became acutely aware of the numerous bite marks peppered across his body, particularly along his neck. The angry red welts fascinated and horrified him in equal measure; he knew they would leave deep scars once they healed. But why would Lucifer…?
Pushing himself up with great effort, Adam fought to regain his balance. His legs felt unsteady, reminiscent of newborn deer attempting their first steps. Gritting his teeth against the pain, he stumbled out of the dark cave that had been his unintentional refuge. The cold air hit him like a slap, awakening his mind but also deepening his sense of dread.
As he approached his village, his heart sank in disbelief. What lay before him was a desolate wasteland; the vibrant life he once knew was replaced by a haunting silence.
The proud, sturdy buildings that had stood for generations were now reduced to mere heaps of wet timber and smoldering rubble. The air was thick with the acrid scent of smoke, a bitter reminder of the destruction that had engulfed his home. And the bodies...so many bodies. All dead. Who...what could have done this?!
That's when he noticed that not all the bodies were human...some were deathly familiar. Familiar in the ways of strangling tentacles, half malformed humanoid upper halves. They laid impaled, shoot and butchered among the rest of the carnage. Krakens. Just like Lucifer. Adam felt himself tremble. No. No. Lucifer may have looked dangerous but he was a sweetheart. Adam knew his kind to be misunderstood! They couldn't have done this! Yet, all he could see were desecrated homes, fields amassed in bodies and small figments of shattered domestic life. And the further he examined, desperate for survivors, Adam found only more horror.
For upon his own skin was a mirror to the deep gashes and bite marks that littered fragments of flesh torn from his kin. The other half a landscape painting of gore still dripping from their mauls.
He sank to his knees, trembling like a leaf in the wind. Adam bit his lip so hard he knew he was bleeding. Another drop amongst a million that stained every where he touched. And with a scream he clawed at his own skin with a sob chocked in rage. The bites, still raw upon his person felt like they were burning him from the inside. Every nip and playful bite from Lucifer came back like stab through the heart. To every memory he conceived as affectionate now became blighted with the taunting of Lucifer’s betrayal. To leave him alive to see it to fruition. Tears pricked at his eyes as Adam glared at the sky before he screamed. "I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF YOUR KIND IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO! THE SEA WILL NEVER KNOW OF PEACE AGAIN TILL IT KNOWS ONLY THE LAST DROP OF ALL YOUR KIND!!!”
His own bites burned and Adam would soon grow accustomed to their hollowed calling.
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue across the endless expanse of ocean as Adam grumbled to himself, the bristles of his brush scraping against the weathered wooden deck of the ship. Each stroke reminded him of the rough life he had endured on that Godforsaken island, barren and lonely, where time seemed to stretch and suffocate him under its weight. He could still taste the salt in the air and feel the grit of sand between his fingers, a constant reminder of the months spent in solitude.
When the ship had finally appeared on the horizon, its sails billowing like the wings of a great bird, Adam had felt a spark of hope ignite in his chest. Yet, it quickly faded when the crew revealed their terms: he would have to earn his way aboard. Swallowing his pride, he had pleaded with them, desperation lacing his voice, and they relented, exchanging his freedom for labor. Thus, he had become their new cabin boy, tasked with the menial chores that none of the seasoned sailors wanted to do.
As he continued to scrub, Adam’s mind drifted to thoughts of freedom and the life he had left behind. The bodies he had tried to bury but ultimately failed at. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the hull provided a strange comfort, but the weight of his new role hung heavily on his shoulders.
He just needed a way to reach the mainland safely, where he could finally catch his breath and plan his next moves. Once there, he would devise a strategy to gather enough funds to acquire his own ship, a vessel that would carry him on a quest for justice. Adam's heart burned with determination; he could not allow the devastation of his home and his people to fade into oblivion. The memories of the destruction and the screams of those he loved echoed in his mind, fueling his resolve. He knew that he would confront the ruthless monsters responsible for such cruelty, and he was willing to risk everything to reclaim what was rightfully his.
Adam can be patient. He can wait.
The echo of a hollow captain’s orders rang out over the deck, but what echoed louder was the familiar burning beneath his clothes. What turned Adam’s head was still invisible to the trained eye over the water’s surface. He shuddered as the markings warmed to a near burning, inspired a slow grin across his lips. Left side it was. Pulling up the collar of his ragged shirt, obscuring the sight of his cursed marks, Adam turned. Soon…
Adam stood proudly amongst his crew, the salty sea breeze whipping through his hair as they reveled in the aftermath of their latest conquest. The massive corpse of the Kraken lay sprawled across the deck of his ship, its tentacles still twitching in a feeble last gesture. This creature had proved to be as cunning as legends foretold, squirming and thrashing as it tried to evade capture. But with quick thinking and expert aim, his first mate, Lute, had plunged her harpoon into its flesh, sealing its fate with a triumphant cry that echoed over the waves.
Now, under the glow of the golden sun, the crew gathered around, their laughter ringing out like music over the gentle lapping of the ocean. They passed around tankards of rich, aged mead, its sweet aroma mingling with the briny scent of the sea. Each sip of their drink celebrated not only their victory but also the bond they shared—one forged through countless battles and nights spent under the stars, anchored far from the safety of land.
Adam surveyed the scene before him, his heart swelling with pride. Each member of his crew had their scars and stories, etched upon their skin and in their eyes—tales of bravery and hardship that had only made them stronger. He couldn’t have asked for a better team; they were fierce, loyal, and relentless, ready to face whatever menace the ocean threw at them.
"Come on, Sir!" Elara called out, her voice cutting through the salty sea air as she waved energetically from the deck. Adam couldn't help but smirk at her enthusiasm; she had a knack for making even the most mundane tasks feel exhilarating. With a few confident strides, he joined his all-female crew, each member displaying a mix of grit and camaraderie that always inspired him.
Most captains would scoff at the idea of having a woman aboard their vessel, let alone an entirely female crew, but Adam was far from your average captain. He had handpicked these women not just for their formidable skills, but for their indomitable spirits. This was a crew forged in the fires of adversity—steeped in the kind of relentless discipline and bravado that would put even the most seasoned pirates to shame.
The crew had a reputation that preceded them. They were a fierce and ruthless bunch, capable of dispatching anyone who dared to underestimate their capabilities. Each had their own story, some even worse than Adam's. He knew that Lute was once a high-class lady whose family fell on hard times and in a desperate attempt to keep what little money her parents had left, sold their only child to prostitution. Adam had found her when she had burnt the man keeping her to death.
Elara had been a slave. Lucy had been an orphan, like Adam except there wasn't anyone to take pity on her like the islanders of Adam's former home did. Cicely was a thief who was wrongfully accused of murder and was going to be executed as a scapegoat. The list went on, some more gruesome than others, but they all found a family in each other.
Adam had navigated a winding path to justice, one that he had dedicated himself to for years. He had become a beacon of hope for those who had struggled to find their own footing in a world that often turned a blind eye to their suffering. His all-female crew, a tightly-knit group forged through shared struggles and victories, held a deep respect for him. They admired not only his courage and determination but also his unwavering commitment to helping them confront their personal battles.
As they sat together, recounting their past achievements, a common desire began to blossom among the crew members: they wanted to aid Adam in realizing his long-held dream. They knew the pain that lingered in his heart, stemming from the sea monsters that had ravaged his home and torn his life apart. Driven by loyalty, they decided to unite their skills and fierce spirits to support him in his quest to hunt down these behemoths of the deep, vowing to confront the nightmares of his past, together. This journey would not only seek vengeance but also healing, as they set sail toward a future determined by their shared resolve.
And now, they had hunted their 74th Kraken. They had slayed the beast and they reveled in the blood that soaked the deck. Adam had noticed that when the beasts were near, his bites would sting. He used that as his compass. This one wasn't the Kraken that had befriended a young and naive child so long ago. The pale monster continued to remain unseen. But, Adam wouldn't rest until the monster that had a hand in killing his people and destroying his home was dead.
Adam lifted his gaze to the horizon as a brisk wind whipped against his face, carrying with it a sense of impending change. As a seasoned pirate, he had spent years navigating the unpredictable temperament of the sea, and this current shift in the air was a familiar harbinger of trouble. He could taste the salt of the ocean mixed with something more ominous on his lips. It clung to his skin like an unwelcome warning.
Furrowing his brow, he scanned the azure sky above, seemingly uninterrupted by any clouds. The sun glimmered brightly, casting warm rays that danced across the waves. Yet, despite the deceptively tranquil appearance, a sense of unease settled in the pit of his stomach. The gentle lapping of the water against the ship's hull sounded almost mocking in the face of his instincts. After all, the ocean had a way of disguising its fury, and Adam knew all too well that storms often brewed silently, waiting for the right moment to unleash their wrath.
"Ladies, I believe we have a storm coming."
Four hours later, Adam and his crew were tossed around like rag dolls on the churning sea. Towering waves crashed against their ship, the relentless wind shrieked through the rigging, and the howling storm seemed determined to swallow them whole. Adam could hear the frantic shouts of his female crew members as they struggled to secure loose equipment and keep their vessel from capsizing. The salty spray of the ocean drenched him as he fought to maintain his footing on the heaving deck.
His heart raced as he bit his lip, determination hardening his resolve. Grabbing a thick rope with both hands, he pulled with all his might, trying to steady the ship against nature’s wrath. It was a battle unlike any he had ever faced. The ferocity of the storm was terrifying, a chaotic blend of swirling winds and crashing waves that roared like a wild beast.
As he glanced around, he saw the fear mirrored in his crew's eyes, but there was a fierce determination beneath that fear. They were all in this together, fighting for their survival against the elements. Adam whispered a silent prayer, hoping that somehow, against all odds, they would navigate through this tempest and find safety on the other side.
A piercing scream echoed through the air, slicing through the chaos around Adam and reaching his ears just in time. He spun around, his heart racing, and his breath caught in his throat as he witnessed Lute's desperate struggle. She had stumbled over the railing, her body teetering dangerously over the edge until she was just hanging from the side. With a burst of adrenaline, she managed to grasp the weathered wood with a gripping hand movement, her knuckles white as she fought to maintain her hold. But Adam could see the fatigue in her arms; it was clear she wouldn't be able to hold on for long.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Adam sprinted toward her, his mind focused solely on saving his first mate. The sound of a rushing wind filled his ears as he closed the distance, ignoring the shouting and commotion around him. Lute's eyes widened in a mix of fear and determination as their gazes locked, a silent understanding passing between them.
As he reached her, Adam grasped her arms tightly, feeling the strength of her muscles tense beneath his grip. With a powerful heave, he pulled her back toward safety, his heart pounding not just from exertion but from the urgency of the moment. Finally, with one last effort, he yanked her up, hauling her away from the brink. Relief washed over him as he felt her weight shift back onto solid ground, the danger momentarily averted.
He sensed the impending chaos before he could fully comprehend it. One moment, Lute was beaming at him, her laughter mingling with the thunderous roars of the storm that raged around them, wind howling and rain lashing against the deck of the ship. In the blink of an eye, the vessel lurched violently, tossed by the surging waves. Adam's heart raced as he felt the deck tilt beneath his feet, and before he could brace himself, he and Lute were hurled off the side of the ship.
In that split second, adrenaline surged through him, awakening a strength he hadn’t known he possessed. Fueled by instinct and desperation, he managed to grasp Lute and, with a fierce push, flung her away from him, watching as she soared through the turbulent air, her silver hair trailing like a comet’s tail. His heart swelled with relief as she shot back toward the ship, momentarily safe.
But his brief solace was shattered as the merciless waves crashed over him, pulling him into the icy depths of the ocean. The salty water engulfed him, swallowing his cries for help, as he disappeared beneath the tumultuous surface, his thoughts consumed by the hope that Lute's landing had been secure.
Adam held his breath as long as he could but with how he was being thrown about, he felt disoriented and his lungs burned from trying to hold his breath. Just as he was blacking out, he felt familiar tentacles grasp his body. At least Lute was safe....
As Adam slowly regained consciousness, the first thing that reached his senses was a soft, melodic humming that seemed to echo all around him. The sound was strange yet mesmerizing, floating effortlessly through the water while carrying an inexplicable depth that tugged at the corners of his mind. Confusion washed over him as he tried to move, only to find that his limbs felt heavy and constrained as if they were caught in some invisible grip.
Suddenly, a deep, resonant chuckle reverberated through the water, pulling him from his thoughts. Panic surged within him as he forced his eyes open. To his astonishment, he realized he was submerged, the world around him a hazy dark blue, and yet he was inexplicably able to breathe. The sensation was both chilling and surreal.
Instinctively, Adam began to thrash, his body arching as he fought against the pull of the water, desperate to reach the surface before the peculiar atmosphere suffocated him. Just as he was about to lose hope, that haunting chuckle washed over him again, wrapping around him like an eerie embrace. "I forgot how cute you were," a voice teased, smooth and playful, sending a shiver down his spine as he struggled to comprehend his bizarre surroundings.
He was met with a pair of fiery red eyes, glowing with an emotion he couldn't place that sent chills down his spine. At that moment, he realized that all the scars etched into his skin were igniting with an agonizing intensity, unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was as if his very past was clawing its way back to the surface, reminding him of all the pain he had endured. Adam's heart raced wildly in his chest, skipping a beat as a sickening realization washed over him. The creature looming over him, shrouded in darkness and a swirling mist of despair, was none other than a Kraken.
Despite the fear gripping him like a vice, Adam couldn’t tear his gaze away from the monstrous form that he had come to know all too well. Memories of terror and destruction flooded his mind—the chaos it had wrought upon his life, the devastation it had unleashed upon his home. It was a horror he thought he had escaped, yet here it was, tangible and ready to torment him once more.
“Lucifer,” Adam growled, the name escaping his lips like a curse, laden with resentment and a burgeoning rage. Each syllable was infused with the weight of his memories, a defiant acknowledgment of the creature that had shattered his reality and left him to pick up the pieces.
“Adam,” Lucifer purred, the sound rolling off his tongue like silk yet laced with an unmistakable chill. His eyes sparkled with a mix of amusement and a simmering anger that belied his playful facade. “While I’m pleasantly surprised to see you grown up, I must confess I’m also quite furious with you.”
The playful tone he adopted did little to mask the underlying tension, an edge to his voice that sent a shiver coursing through Adam. "I've told you so long ago...that my kind was rare...and you killed so many of my family." Adam shook as he looked at the fangs that seemed to grow longer. "And while I've somewhat understood why you did this at first...you just kept going. Even getting rid of Krakens who had no part in the destruction of your home. And that is something I couldn't let slide."
"Fine then. Kill me." Adam yelled, surprised that the sound could carry underwater like that. Lucifer blinked before laughing as if he said something funny. Adam looked at him wearily. "Oh, my sweet Adam. I'm not going to kill you." That made Adam tense.
"It's only fair you replace the Kraken you killed." Adam barely had time to register anything before fangs were pricing his neck. Adam screamed as those sharp teeth ripped into his neck. Lucifer clamped on before slowing letting go, licking a long and thick tongue across the open wound. The blood mingled with the water, slowly rising. "Ah...can't you feel it, Adam? It's time we become one."
Adam whimpered when tentacles began to explore his body. While he wasn't overweight, he did like to indulge in beer and food since he had nothing as a kid. Therefore, Adam didn't really like it when people saw too much of his body since it wasn't really seen as the ideal. Luckily, he had muscles under layers of fat.
Lucifer didn't seem to care as he ripped through his clothes easily, allowing them to sink below them. The Kraken marveled at his body, his eyes showing Adam just how turned on he was. If the large dick poking wasn't anything to go by.
Adam tried to wiggle out but Lucifer held him firm as he explored every inch of bare skin. Every one of them fondled something while hands cupped his face. He felt some touch on his nipples, his stomach fat, his balls, and even around his ass to caress beneath the folds. Adam whimpered again as Lucifer kissed him deeply.
It was harsh and rough, teeth puncturing slightly as Lucifer plunged his tongue into his wet cavern to wrestle his tongue. He immediately won and Adam let out a surprise moan as he was manhandled. He cried out, muffled by the kiss, when an appendage easily made its way into Adam's puckering hole. He would wonder how it was possible to fuck underwater without dying, but he was feeling too much at once to think about it.
A hand gripped his hair and yanked as a tentacle thrusted into him. "You have no idea how long I've waited for this? For you to be in my arms? How angry have I been? Oh, Adam...I'm never letting you go." Lucifer, impatient to finally have him in a way that he could only dream of up until now, prepped him just enough to get him loose before saying, "I might be a bit big...but I'm sure a good boy like you can handle it."
Adam screamed at the appendage entering him, moaning in pleasure at being filled up. He had no idea about this, but Krakens let out a special slime at the tips of their tentacles that acted like an aphrodisiac when they wanted to mate. It had already sunk into his skin and Adam couldn't think of anything other than to be filled.
Lucifer gripped Adam hard as he slammed mercilessly into him, growling and biting Adam anywhere he could find him. Adam was in too much pleasure to feel the bites as anything more than pleasurable. "Mine! You're mine, Adam!" He spilled his seed into Adam making them both cry out. They both gassed for breath as they came down from their high.
"Well, I hope the seed takes...we'll have to do this a lot more to get my population up again."
Adam stirred awake, a heaviness settling in the pit of his stomach, wrapped up in the many possessive tentacles Lucifer had. As he pulled the covers aside, difficult but manageable to do while being held so securely, a shiver ran through him, causing goosebumps to prick at his skin. He glanced tiredly down at his noticeably swollen belly that seemed to rise in defiance of his expectations. The realization struck him with an odd combination of disbelief and wonder.
Pregnancy was a concept he had only ever associated with women, and the thought of seeing himself in this state felt surreal. A mixture of emotions surged within him as he traced his fingers over the curve of his abdomen, feeling the weight of the life growing inside him. He had never envisioned this scenario for his own life, yet here he was, entangled in a reality that blurred the lines between fantasy and the ordinary.
Next to him lay the creature who had changed everything—sleek and enigmatic, a Kraken with red scales shimmering in the hint of daylight filtering through the deep water as he held him. His deep, rhythmic breaths filled the air, and Adam couldn’t help but wonder how something so fantastical could lead to something so profoundly intimate. The warmth of the creature’s form around him made Adam shiver despite it all.
Suddenly, Adam let out a low, lingering moan that reverberated in the stillness of the room. He cast a quick glance down at his belly, where a tight sensation was rapidly intensifying. Lucifer, who had been resting beside him, stirred awake, his expression softening as he recognized the sudden shift in atmosphere and gently let him go. "Hello, my love. Is everything okay?" His voice was laced with concern, a warm contrast to the cool night air.
Adam's eyes met Lucifer's with a sharp intensity, an almost primal urgency breaking through the calm facade. "I think the baby... is coming," he murmured, the weight of the moment pressing heavily between them.
Lucifer's eyes widened in shock, the realization sinking in like a stone. Without hesitation, he slipped from the bed, his movements fluid and purposeful. It was clear he was gathering everything necessary for the impending birth—hastily collecting blankets, supplies, and whatever else might be needed. His heart raced with a mix of excitement and anxiety as he prepared to welcome their child into the seaworld.
Lucifer kneeled beside him and said, "Let me rub your feet, my love."
Adam couldn't suppress a soft whimper as he glanced down at his swollen belly, a wave of anxiety crashing over him. The sensations coursing through him were unmistakable; it was almost time for the baby to make its entrance into the world. A mix of anticipation and dread churned within him, knowing all too well the intensity of the pain that awaited him.
He let out a resigned sigh, his fingers gently tracing the roundness of his stomach, feeling the tiny movements that served as reminders of the life growing within. The warmth of Lucifer's hands on his feet provided a soothing contrast to the unease bubbling inside him. Lucifer’s rhythmic massage was both comforting and grounding, a reminder that he was not alone in this momentous experience.
As Adam continued to rub his belly, he could feel the tightening of contractions beginning to ripple through his body, each one stronger and more insistent than the last. He took a deep breath, recalling the birth plan they had crafted together and tried to calm the fluttering anxiety in his chest. With every passing moment, he steeled himself for the challenge ahead, fully aware that the road to becoming a parent was just about to begin in earnest.
Adam let out a low moan as he bit his lip in pain. Lucifer coached him throughout the pregnancy, his warm voice filtering through him as he breathed and pushed. Lucifer helped him as much as he could but ultimately, this was Adam giving birth. He could feel the sweat on his brow. How that happened underwater was a mystery to Adam, but he barely noticed through his contraction.
How could women endure the agony of childbirth repeatedly? The pain Adam witnessed and felt was beyond anything he had ever imagined—an excruciating intensity that seemed to permeate every fiber of his being. It twisted and contorted, leaving him feeling both nauseated and dizzy as if he were trapped in a whirlwind of distress. The sheer enormity of the experience struck him hard; he had never felt such a raw display of human suffering and resilience. Childbirth was a realm Adam had only heard about in passing, a concept that had remained abstract and distant until now. The sight of it was overwhelming, and he found himself grappling with a profound admiration for the strength of those who went through it before him.
Lucifer simply smiled as he helped Adam along while he looked up at him from between his legs. Lucifer had told him that he would be giving birth to an egg and that after birth they would be cleaning it before Adam took care of it.
"That's it. Push harder, my love." Adam screamed, his throat feeling raw from the pain.
Lucifer cooed as he helped Adam. "You're doing great, honey. You're doing wonderful. But I'm going to need you to push." Adam nodded and screamed again as he felt the child move before he was left with what looked like a shiny egg. They both looked at the large thing before Lucifer picked up their offspring.
With deliberate care, he cradled the fragile egg in his hands, its surface smooth and cool to the touch. He meticulously wiped it down, his fingers gliding over the delicate shell with precision as he removed every speck of goop that stuck to it. Once satisfied with its gleaming appearance, he turned to Adam, a soft smile gracing his lips. Leaning in, he planted a gentle kiss on Adam's cheek, the warmth of the gesture momentarily grounding Adam in the swirling haze of weariness that clouded his mind.
A soft, melodious hum filled the air, and it took Adam a moment to register that the source of the sound was none other than Lucifer. As he gently attended to Adam’s needs, the weariness of both body and mind left Adam too depleted to clean himself. He felt the cool touch of a damp cloth glide across his skin, meticulously wiping away any remnants of their earlier activities. With each stroke, the tension in Adam's muscles began to ease, and he let out a deep sigh of relief as the sensation washed over him.
"There. All clean!" Lucifer announced cheerfully, his voice a blend of pride and affection as he set aside the cloth. Adam glanced up to meet Lucifer's gaze, appreciating the tender care he was receiving, a stark contrast to the chaos that had preceded this moment. The warmth of cleanliness enveloped him, and for a fleeting instant, he felt a deep sense of comfort amidst the lingering exhaustion.
“My adorable love,” Lucifer murmured affectionately, his voice rich and warm as he pressed a gentle kiss to Adam's forehead. The soft caress sent a wave of comfort through Adam, but he was too weary to muster a verbal reply beyond a faint, contented hum. His golden eyes, shimmering with exhaustion yet mirroring a depth of emotion, locked onto Lucifer’s gaze.
As he shifted slightly, Adam’s gaze fell to the egg nestled carefully in his arms, its smooth surface glistening under the soft light. He could hardly wrap his mind around the reality of it—had he truly brought forth something so extraordinary? The Kraken cradled the precious egg with a reverence that spoke volumes, treating it as if it were more valuable than the finest gold. Adam couldn’t help but feel a swell of protectiveness and awe for the creation they had begun together, marveling at the miracle of life they had forged against all odds.
The corners of his mouth turned up in amusement as he observed Adam's dazed expression, a mixture of bewilderment and fatigue. It was a sight that made him chuckle softly, a light, melodic sound that filled the air between them. Leaning closer, he whispered, "One down," his breath brushed against Adam's ear, sending a shiver down Adam's spine. The simple phrase hung in the air, laden with meaning, as he turned to swim away, leaving Adam alone to stew in his thoughts.
Chapter 8 -Lucifer’s Side
From the countless tales whispered in the depths of the ocean during his youth, Lucifer had learned that humans were creatures of destruction and malice. They tainted the purity of their waters with waste, ravaged the beauty of their lands for their own gain, and inflicted harm upon anything they deemed unfamiliar or threatening. Even as a mighty Kraken, fear hung like a shadow over him during those formative years.
This trepidation intensified when a relentless storm, more ferocious than any he had ever encountered, tore him from the safety of his pod. Cast aside by the waves, he found himself marooned on a small, sun-kissed island, far from the familiar depths of his ocean home. On the rocky shore, he writhed ineffectually, his colossal tentacles struggling against the constraints of the foreign land.
Helpless and vulnerable, he could only observe as a group of small humans approached, their laughter echoing through the salty air. Their eyes gleamed with a playful mischief that sent chills down his spine and his heart racing with dread; he realized their intentions were far from innocent. With each step they took, the pounding rhythm of fear surged within him, a cruel reminder of the terror he had always felt towards these land-dwellers. Here, on this unfamiliar terrain, he could do nothing but wait and watch as they closed in, driven by a dark curiosity that made his heart race with panic.
They had furiously kicked at him, planning to do terrible things to the already weak Kraken. He hated them for hurting him while he was down and he hated how some of his tentacles were ripped out during the storm to the point he was too weak to fight back. He did hiss. That only deterred them for a second before they mockingly hissed back at him. Lucifer could only bite his lip in anger.
And then he came. A beautiful child, perhaps older than his abusers, and he looked very angry as he yelled at them to stop. He stared down at the children and to his great surprise, began to fight off the children before they ran for their homes, crying. "Yeah, that's right!" The child yelled, brandishing his fists triumphantly.
Despite the mysterious human saving him, he didn't trust him.
It didn’t take long for Lucifer to develop a deep trust in Adam. There was something strikingly captivating about him that drew Lucifer in like a moth to a flame. Adam possessed a refreshing innocence, seemingly untouched by the darker realities of the world around them. His words flowed effortlessly, each sentence imbued with a buoyancy that made it impossible for Lucifer to disengage. Oh, how he could lose himself in their conversations for hours on end!
Adam’s voice was a melody, soothing and harmonious as if it were crafted by celestial beings themselves. Every inflection and laugh seemed to sprinkle the air with joy, compelling Lucifer to lean in closer, hanging on every word. His eyes were mesmerizing, resembling two glimmering pools of gold that danced with light in the sunlight, radiating warmth and sincerity. Whenever their gazes met, a spark ignited between them, and that radiant smile of Adam always brightened Lucifer's day, spreading an infectious cheer that filled the space around them.
He was glad they had gotten around to communicating with each other because Lucifer wanted his Adam to hear him for the first time. It was no wonder, then, that Lucifer, despite being younger, found himself irresistibly drawn to Adam.
So, he began to test the waters. Ever so slightly, he would bite Adam's fingers. It was the start of any courtship, though Lucifer being so young made it a bit odd, but he needed to make sure that no one would ever see Adam and not think he was being courted! And that meant he needed to be bitten.
Adam seemed surprised by this but never pushed him away. This only encouraged Lucifer more. Adam was accepting him! Surely that meant they were meant to be! Anytime Lucifer got excited, he would bite Adam and leave his marks. It was not too rough; humans were on the fragile side, but enough to get his message across.
One fateful day, in a moment of impulsive enthusiasm, Lucifer sank his teeth into Adam's skin a bit too forcefully. Instantly, a thin stream of crimson blood seeped from the wound, glistening in the soft light like a dark ruby. Adam's reaction was immediate and visceral; he recoiled sharply, shoving Lucifer away with a force that caught the Kraken off guard.
Lucifer's wide, expressive eyes locked onto Adam's face, which was twisted in disbelief before being consumed with mind-numbing pain. Adam was rejecting him. He had seen it happen in his pod. Krakens came to strike their luck only to be turned away from them after a small bite. At least they were rejected quickly. Lucifer had known Adam for a while now and he had never, not once, had he ever pushed Lucifer away! Why now?! What did Lucifer do wrong?!
"Why?!" He cried out, clutching at himself, tears welling in his eyes. "Why?! Why?!" He felt arms hold him but he wouldn’t be consoled. Adam rejected him. What had he done to deserve something like that?! They had been growing closer all the time so why would Adma push him away?!
Suddenly, he felt a small bite on his fingers. It was enough to get him to sniffle and look at Adam curiously. What was he doing? The bites continued, each growing bolder until Lucifer felt like he was a blushing mess with how much he was being bitten.
Did this mean Adam liked him again?! Lucifer lept and pinned Adam down, nipping at his face in happiness. The human laughed. All had been forgiven.
Lucifer should have known that their happiness could not have lasted.
While Adam was away, deep within the shadows of his cave, Lucifer stirred restlessly. The air was thick with unease when suddenly, a familiar call echoed through the stillness—a voice that tugged at his heart. It was another Kraken, his cousin, a being of great strength and beauty, and he felt a rush of joy as he sensed her presence. With a gentle yet deliberate movement, the massive creature navigated the rocky formations of his above water dwelling, inching toward the entrance.
Finally, peering out into the crystalline depths of the ocean, Lucifer spotted her—a sight both mesmerizing and haunting. The Kraken emerged gracefully from the dark waters, revealing only the upper half of her powerful form. Her long, flowing blonde hair shimmered like strands of spun gold under the faint light filtering through the water, illuminating her features. But beneath her striking appearance, there was an unmistakable air of apprehension. Her vivid yellow eyes darted nervously, searching for something—or someone—amidst the shadows.
“Lu? Is that you?” she asked, her voice a mix of hope and uncertainty, reverberating through the water with a slight tremor.
Overwhelmed with relief, Lucifer's face broke into a wide smile, his sharp teeth glistening as he responded, "B! It’s so wonderful to see you! I’m so glad you found me! I’m almost healed, and then we can finally leave this place! I need to introduce you to someone special. His name is—”
“Lucifer, stop!” B interjected, her voice suddenly grave and filled with emotion. The joy that had illuminated Lucifer’s heart began to dim as he noticed the distress etched on her face. “Something terrible has happened,” she continued, her words tumbling out like a chilling tide. “Our pod was attacked!”
The weight of her revelation crashed over Lucifer like a brutal wave, shattering the relief he had felt moments ago. Fear gripped him as he realized the gravity of the situation; the world around him transformed in an instant, and the vibrant beauty seeing his kin felt suddenly suffocating.
"It was the humans of this island! They found us while we were hunting and took us by surprise!" B was now sobbing. "Half our family is dead! They killed while they laughed at us!"
Lucifer turned dangerous yellow and red eyes to the village, face stony. "B? Gather some more Kraken. We have a special hunting game for tomorrow."
They would pay for hurting his family. One way or another.
Now, all he needed was Adam in this cave while he protected him so he can place claim so no one else would hurt him. Hos poor Adal was innocent of hurting his pod and therefore will be spared.
He didn't even realize that the next day was Adam's birthday when his precious human told him. He was excited, talking about anything and everything while telling Lucifer how big he was now that he was eleven.
Lucifer smiled but it came out strained. Despite knowing what was about to go down and knew how justified he was, he couldn't help but guilty knowing it would leave Adam all by himself.
"Lucifer? Is something wrong?" Oh, his precious human saw how upset he was and wanted to comfort him! He didn't deserve Adam. Lucifer smiled and said, "I'm perfectly fine."
Then, the screaming began. The attack was in full swing coaxing Adam to immediately stood. Forever brave and reckless in his instinct to fight and protect from whomever was attacking his home, Lucifer’s heart truly broke then. Lucifer could neither risk Adam’s interference nor his mate’s potential for injury or death. But knowing it to be impossible to convince Adam otherwise Lucifer reacted methodically. Quickly leaping upon Adam’s back Lucifer thrusting in his fangs with the purpose like a hunter rather in a mate. Injecting a paralyzing venom, normally reserved for larger hunts, to successfully staggered his human in an instant.
Adam hit the floor with hardly a whimper and barely conscious. Lucifer couldn't help but stare in sympathy as he looked upon his helpless dazed expression. "I'm so sorry, Adam."
Yet as his beloved lost his battle with consciousness, Lucifer couldn't help but admire just how beautiful he looked laid out before him. Covered in bites, but tainted by one and Lucifer refused it to be their last. Opening his maw, the kraken ripped through Adam’s shirt and descended upon him. Biting anywhere he could and only releasing him when he was satisfied with his marks. "My beloved, I will reunite with you again. But my Ocean home needs its King."
Lucifer awoke to an unsettling silence that enveloped the room. Typically, the gentle, rhythmic sound of his beloved Adam’s soft snores filled the air, a comforting melody that lulled him into serene mornings. But today, there was only the sound of his own breathing—deep and panicked.
As his eyes swept across the bed, confusion gripped him. The sheets were rumpled, and the space beside him was achingly empty. A rush of fear coursed through him. Where could Adam be? He needed him now more than ever!
“Adam!” Lucifer’s voice pierced the stillness, rising in urgency as he felt a tremor of unease in his chest. He could feel his form shifting, the familiar contours of his human shape blurring as his body morphed into his true Kraken form—a towering, magnificent creature of mythic proportions.
With powerful movements of his tentacles, he propelled himself out of the lavish bedroom, instinctively searching for Adam. Each graceful sweep sent waves crashing against the ornate walls as he called out his name, desperation lacing his voice. “Adam!”
The vastness of the cave house loomed around him, shadows wrapping around corners like dark secrets, amplifying his dread. He explored each room with fervor, anxiety mounting with each passing moment. Where could his beloved be?
In the earlier days, Lucifer had been so careful in Adam’s regard, persisting on keeping his lover deep within the coils of his reach, especially as they slept. But Lucifer has long since eased up upon his paranoid precaution after the birth of their eighth child. Slowly evolving a renewal of trust during the births of their ninth and tenth child. How foolish he had been—-No! He would not allow himself to lose Adam—not in this way, not after everything they had faced together. Frustration gnawed at him as he called Adam once more, only to be met with the same suffocating silence. After several attempts, he finally decided he had reached his limit. Anger bubbled within him, the kind that always threatened to spill over when he thought about the recklessness Adam often displayed. The feeling of betrayal tampered hand in hand with his instinctive feeling of worry.
Hadn't they been through this before, time and again? Each conversation had emphasized the heavy burden Adam bore after so callously ending the lives of the Kraken beyond the bounds of sympathy of his home town—as if he were playing a cruel game rather than confronting the dire consequences of his massacre. Lucifer stifled a growl, his teeth clenched in frustration. Adam couldn't have gone far; he couldn't deceive himself into thinking this was it—there had to be a reason for his absence, something that would bring him back.
Yet, beneath the anger lay a deeper truth: their children were missing their mother, just as Lucifer needed his wife by his side in this tumultuous time. The weight of familial duty loomed large, a reminder that they were more than just individuals but a family requiring all their strength to face the unfolding chaos. He couldn't let Adam slip away, not when there was so much at stake.
Taking a deep breath to steady his rising temper, Lucifer stepped outside into the cool water determined to track down his wayward partner. His thoughts were a swirling mix of confusion, anger and concern—what on earth had Adam been thinking? They had hardly spent any time together outside their cove since they started this entire arrangement. Yet Adam had witlessly ventured into the unknown, leaving behind the safety of their secluded water cave.
Lucifer knew all too well the dangers that lurked beyond their sanctuary. As the mighty Kraken, he had always commanded respect in the depths of the ocean, but that stature meant little out there where Adam hadn't yet made an impression. Here, Adam was vulnerable, exposed to other predators—some of them ravenous creatures, while others possessed a more cunning intelligence, capable of speech and negotiation. These beings could easily see Adam as an opportunity, using him as leverage in a scheme to extract something valuable from Lucifer.
Frustration bubbled within Lucifer as he pondered Adam's impulsive choice to run away rather than confronting his feelings or fears. Why didn’t Adam come to him? Why choose to face the world alone when they could have approached their troubles together? The weight of worry settled heavily on Lucifer's shoulders as he moved swiftly through the shadows, determined to find Adam before it was too late.
The search for Adam had dragged on far longer than Lucifer had anticipated. He felt the weight of frustration mounting within him, especially considering how energy-efficient their Kraken offspring were; they could sleep for hours on end, nestled in the soft, dark recesses of the ocean floor. It was a small comfort, knowing that their children were safe in their deep slumber while he was consumed by worry.
Lucifer's patience was wearing thin, and he could feel the urge to destroy something building within him like an impending storm. Every passing moment without finding Adam only intensified his anxiety. He scoured the expansive depths of the ocean, traversing vibrant coral reefs and shadowy trenches, feeling the cold currents swirl around him.
Then, as if guided by an unseen force, he caught a faint, familiar scent drifting through the water—a sweet, intoxicating trace that could only belong to his beloved wife. A smirk flickered across his face, igniting a spark of hope within him. He had found him at last. Fueled by determination and relief, Lucifer surged forward, propelling himself through the dark waters with swift, powerful strokes, his heart racing as he tried to reach Adam before any lurking predator could intercept him. He was resolved to bring his beloved back safely, no matter the cost.
Lucifer glided silently through the murky depths of the ocean, his keen eyes catching sight of Adam swimming in the shadows of a deep trench. The water was dark and cold, pulling at Lucifer like a seductive embrace, but his focus was solely on the burlap sack tightly clutched in Adam's hands. There was an urgency in his movements, a stealthiness that spoke of fear or desperation as he maneuvered away from an unseen threat.
Above him, the Kraken released a low, rumbling growl that reverberated through the water, an ominous sound only he could sense. Instinctively, he felt the stirrings of protectiveness rise within him. His tentacles undulated with a fluid grace, propelling him faster and faster after his beloved.
Each stroke through the chilly currents brought him closer to Adam, who remained blissfully unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. What if, instead of a loving husband, it was a predatory monster that had chosen to stalk his dear Adam? The thought sent a pang of anxiety through Lucifer. He couldn’t shake the nagging worry—if he wasn’t there, who would defend his husband against the lurking terrors of the abyss?
In the depths of his heart, he knew Adam needed him, even if stubborn pride blinded him to the truth. The way Adam eluded detection was impressive, yes, but it only underscored the perils they faced together. Lucifer's resolve strengthened; he would not let any threat harm his wife—not while he had the power to intervene. With every powerful swipe of his tentacles, he closed the distance, determined to keep Adam safe from the hidden dangers surrounding them.
Adam was immersed in his own thoughts, oblivious to the presence of Lucifer until it was too late. Without warning, he felt the cold, slick grip of Lucifer’s tentacles wrapping around him, constricting with an iron hold. Panic rose within him as he instinctively screamed, thrashing wildly against the powerful embrace that kept him anchored.
Lucifer observed him with an air of calm amusement, his eyes glimmering like dark stars in a void. "And what, pray tell, are you doing so far from home?" he inquired, his voice smooth and unsettling, echoing in the silence of the shadows that surrounded them.
Adam’s struggles only intensified as fury ignited within him. “Let me go! I want to leave!” he shouted, glaring defiantly at Lucifer, his heart pounding in his chest. His eyes burned with a mix of fear and anger, but it was no use.
Lucifer sighed deeply, a sound filled with annoyance and resignation. Hadn't they already have this conversation? Adam owed him. He wasn't allowed to leave until he repayed Lucifer in full.
"Adam, take a moment to look around you," Lucifer said, his voice echoing through the dimly lit expanse of the ocean depths. With a graceful flick of his sinuous tentacles, he lifted Adam, allowing him to absorb the surreal beauty surrounding them. Bioluminescent creatures glowed softly from afar in hues of blue and green, casting an otherworldly light on the vaguely familiar landscape.
As Adam's wide eyes scanned the enchanting, yet perilous realm, Lucifer's expression hardened. "You have no idea where you are, do you?" he continued, his deep, resonant voice laced with frustration. "You’re completely lost. And consider yourself fortunate that I stumbled upon you instead of a pack of Mersharks. In their eyes, you would be nothing but an easy meal."
Adam's face drained of color at the mention of the fearsome predators lurking in the shadows of the abyss. The weight of Lucifer’s words settled heavily in the water around them, and for a moment, the haunting beauty of the ocean seemed overshadowed by the gravity of their situation. Lucifer felt a twinge of remorse for frightening Adam so thoroughly, yet he knew it was imperative for his wife to grasp the gravity of his reckless decision to wander off into the unknown. This was no place for the unprepared; the depths were filled with dangers waiting beneath the surface.
Lucifer drew Adam in closer, his fingers tenderly framing his partner's face, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath his touch. "Don't you see what I'm trying to tell you?" he said, his voice low and filled with urgency. "Only I have the power to keep you safe in this place. You owe me for everything that's happened between us. My kind is nearly wiped out, their existence hanging by a thread." The memory of his brethren falling victim to Adam's hands triggered a familiar wave of anger within Lucifer, but he stifled it, forcing a serene smile as he gazed into Adam's eyes, filled with both love and a hint of desperation. "Now, the question is: are you going to be a good boy and come back home with me? Our children are waiting for us, and they need both of their parents."
"I'm still working on the Ocean knowing who their Queen is." It had only been a month ago when Lucifer had revealed to Adam that Lucifer was the King of the Ocean, most of it anyway, and he had a powerful status. But, he needed Adam near until everyone got the message that his new Queen was off limits.
Even after, if Adam chose—-
Adam sniffed. "I shouldn't like you. You have to be using some sort of spell or allure on me! That has to be the only way I could stand you!" Lucifer blinked, titling his head. Krakens were powerful but they certainly couldn't compel people to do what they want like that. Lucifer smirked knowingly. Even as children, Adam would willingly face anything almost blindly head on. It had been that single mindedness the compelled Adam to save him in the first place. Yet when it came to his mate’s own sense of self, what he couldn’t understand often caused him to lash out in some way. Repetitive and annoying, but Lucifer was nothing if not patient when it came to Adam.
"Oh, my beloved. I don't need to do that even if I could. I love how silly you are!" He kissed Adam's nose that evolved into a liter of bites. Purring deeply in his throat as his wife leaned into his touch with a forfeiting sigh. Feeling pleased and a tad forgiving, Lucifer nibbled Adam’s cheek affectionately before he continued more cheeringly, "Well, let's go! We wouldn't want our children to wake up alone!”
Adam said nothing beyond nibbling back over Lucifer’s hand in a tenderly familiar gesture. Even as the coils of tentacles rose to protectively encompass him.
Lucifer barely raised his head from his favorite place nestled between Adam’s breasts. Since the birth of their second child, his pecs refused to harden again, remaining swell and tender for Adam’s prolonged punishment. Much to Lucifer’s obsessive delight; even now his lips nippled at his left areola. Caught between bites and teasing breathes against the sensitive nipple Beneath the water it came in gentle drifts like bubbles and all from the wrong direction. “You breathe through your gills and your mouth. Stop pretending to sleep” Adam snapped tiredly. His hand moving towards the kraken’s head to gently tug at the nip of his neck but lacked any real hostility. Their fifth child protruded obscenely beneath the numerous confining tentacles to what was Adam’s largest of Adam’s pregnancy yet.
“Hmmm…” Lucifer made a show stirring and whining his refusal by twisting his face even deeper into the pillowing of Adam’s chest. Not a single connecting tentacle even budged or stuck to him as it often did in genuine sessions of rest. Lucifer was a fortress onto himself especially in slumber, leaving not an inch for Adam’s escape.
“I’ll bite…” Adam warned lazily and eyed the appendage cradling his neck to rest against his right cheek. It’s textures hide flushed a vibrating red of red that traveled all across to the connecting body to the head buried stubbornly away from view.
Lucifer shivered to which Adam’s felt throughout the entirety of the kraken’s enormous body. Teeth like knifes reciprocated Adam’s threat by burying between Adam’s breasts and Adam wished the scream he let out was for pain. His own red blood drifted around Lucifer’s head like fogged halo, matching the warm eyes rising to meet him.
“Tease…” Lucifer made a show of licking his lips dispute the useless effort when under water.
“You know you’re to far along for that sort of bribery…”
At the mention, the kraken was quick to become distracted again to lean further down. Adjusting his hold only slightly to rub his face against Adam’s stomach.
“Twins… the fact that humans can do that…” he coed in amazement.
The ‘human’ rolled his eyes and follow through his threat to nip at the end of the tentacle at his cheek. Reds intensified with a translucent glow and Adam met Lucifer’s hungry expression with a leer of impatience. “I asked how long-“
They glared at one another, the tension edging as it always did when Adam brought this particular topic up.
“I want an answer this time. How fucking long has it been since I’ve been down here?” Lute’s frightened expression entered Adam’s mind. Her determined passions and endless ferocity. The loyalty to him could lead her to pointless ruin- his crew. His soul ached for them by the sheer unknowing of their fates.
What would they say if they saw him now?
The sound Lucifer gave off didn’t even seem to come from him, rather than the echoes hollowing their cave around them. His more monstrous half becoming a tense spring of hardened muscles. Still Adam glared back with as much anger as he could muster.
“What does it matter? You can not return until you pay your debt!” Lucifer finally snapped back and reburied his face against Adam’s stomach. As if to hide away what his voice couldn’t betray. Tears that had once had spilled so freely from Lucifer as a child. The memory of those vulnerable moments crumbled the rest of Adam’s poorly built resolve. The human slumped against the coils that clung to him so desperately.
“…I want to know that they’re okay…”.
“Luci…”. It was a cheap trick, they both knew it.
Their shared memories together as youths still a sore spot between them for different reasons.
“Luci, please… think of it… as a gift. To celebrate…”
Lucifer didn’t respond, instead disappearing amongst his coils while still clinging to Adam’s stomach.
As confiding as the cave was, Adam could at least trick himself into believing that he wasn’t where he was. That the cave was no different than the crock and spaces he crawled into as a child on his island. From the bubble of his confinement he could ignore much of his under sea surroundings. But Lucifer’s sadism apparently to knew no bounds.
“My precious urchin…” Lucifer called from below the cave’s opening. Adam made a face at the sappy glee lining his voice and blatantly refused to look out from the edge of the cave’s opening. “My coral? My sharky love?” Lucifer clapped his hands in a movement swirling with bubbles. Earning a series of delighted thrills from their children flocking impatiently about his tentacles. All watching in awaiting fascination at the familiar coaxing from their father for their mother. All seven followed his example and clapped their hands trying to hold in their giggles. They would be quick to sprint and hide within Lucifer’s coils in case it earned their mother’s hilarious ire.
“Come out! Come out!!” they called in perfect chorus. All excitement for the family’s rare day out as Adam hardly dared to venture from the depths of Lucifer’s self made craven. Built steadily throughout the years in suspension of their mother’s one day arrival. The children couldn’t possibly fault their mother for loving their father’s gift so much.
“Ahh…!” Adam half covered his ears and turned away. His ridiculous instincts trying to trick him into submitting wards their calls. Since their first child, Adam found himself strangely acute to their sounds and cries. Often hearing them before even Lucifer could and it compelled Adam into actions he hasn’t felt openly in years. To love and nurture with a sense of unconditional love that ate at his defenses quicker than he could even build them.
He could hear Lucifer’s laughter from outside and hated the way it made his heart skipped a beat. “My grumpy pearl!”
But those fucking nicknames.
Suddenly a compile of tiny hands grabbed at Adam’s shoulders and with a collective pull, the human found himself a drift outside the cave. The resounding cheer that followed shallowed his arising panic, all the while kisses and hugs engulfed him in a ways only krakens could. Entire body hugs and kisses quick to turn into happy bites.
Krakens ultimate show of affection.
The children dispersed only enough for Lucifer to take up Adam’s vision. The distant light of the sun reflected through his hair like a wave of gold. His inhuman features Adam once compared to a blowfish as children, had now become what he could only describe as what poets would sing nonsense about. Unworldly and painfully beautiful, Adam’s kraken pulled him into a fang filled kiss.
There were days Adam could recall more vividly than others. When outside business compelled Lucifer from their nest, relinquishing Adam from the reach of the kraken’s venom. When the water exhaling from his neck felt suddenly as obscene as the adamant roundness of his stomach.
“Fuck…” The bounty hunter raised a hand but immediately slammed it back down. Webbing, thin but durably present like the gills cross his neck: slowly but surely Adam could feel more and more of his humanity slipping away. A swift kick to his bladder gave a haunting level of emphasis aligning his thoughts. Instincts compelling him to cradle a hand over the curve of his guts to disperse a comforting hum to their baby. A kraken’s kicks always came in multiple sets, taking after their father in number of limbs. Even after numerous births, Adam knew this one to be no different. Non-human, a creature of the sea, a debt he was cursed to repent. And Adam hated how he adored every wiggling one of them.
The kicks smoothed into a soft brushing beneath his palm as if reaching to hold his finger as so many of its other siblings had done. Adam couldn’t look, picking a wordless lullaby he could not remember the source of. Lucifer was fiercely disapproving of all his old sea made chats, especially those that paid references to hunts. Kicking his legs to watch the swirl of bubbles Adam caught sight of his changeling feet with a hardened grimace. Extended ankle and lengthens toes, the deceivingly smooth skin was creased in a pigment of scales. Along the back of his calf protruded spinal fins, ending down at the curve of his vanishing ankle. His toes could hardly be recognized as they had began to flatten and harden between translucent webbing like his hands. And those were just the strangest changes.
Adam jumped as familiar hands encircled his waist, pulling him to rest against the strong but small chest of his mate. Familiar teeth sank into back of shoulder expelling an unwilling hitch of a moan from Adam’s lips.
Lucifer’s eagerness was a trait never lost on him in their childhood. What had been miscommunicated as a from of comfort had been in actuality a kraken’s awkward attempt at courtship. Something Lucifer shyly reminisced about with a fond but open grimace. Tracing the old scaring lining Adam’s body’s all due to a child’s untrained and clumsy attempts at flirting. A problem the strange man no longer had, sipping another moan from Adam as another assaulted his neck. All the while those hands reached the mostly obvious aspect of his change.
“Ahhhh!!” His back arched dispute himself as scaled fingers pitched at his swollen nipples. The growth of his chest more than filled Lucifer’s hands, especially during his pregnancy. His hips had followed to give the accent of curves that would even earn his old subordinate’s envy.
“I’m sorry…” Lucifer sounded anything but as he nipped Adam’s ear. “I couldn’t stay away….”
Not after Adam’s last attempt—-
The pawing at his chest shifted to encircle his waist into a genuine hug. Leaving Adam both wet and admittedly frustrated with an instinct to buck. “Luci..!”
The small kraken sighed almost dreamily as Adam’s scented need filled the room. All the while the old name warmly blesses his ears, a gift he so rarely earns from his lovely mate. “I missed you so much…” he admits into Adam’s shoulder. His tentacles brushing over Adam’s stomach where his hands could no longer reach around. Feeling the life so safely nestled there like a cool ointment to his soul.
Then meeting had been a dark affair in regards to his mate’s old crew. Though, without Adam abusing Lucifer’s gifts, they were still actively hunting his kind. Obviously less effectively, but their violence in their attempts had more than tripled. They were bridging beyond just the desired extinction of his kind, but to a expanding threat to the oceans and seas at large.
Lucifer could no longer ignore them for solely his mate’s sake.
The sight of that whale blindly mistaken for his kin. The growing carnage of other sea life discarded to rot— repeat. Repeat. Repeat——
Lucifer reached down, his tentacles gently spreading Adam’s legs unveil the source of his mate’s fertile scent. The protrusion of Adam’s pregnant stomach only enticed his excitement as Lucifer possessively engulfed them both within his coils.
Tracing a finger along Adam’s cock, Lucifer watched the water catch the building pre-cum like a wisp of smoke. From his gills to his skin, Lucifer could taste the building pheromones and pumped Adam’s cock with an obsessive grip.
Was that woman inciting this barbarism the for the same reason Lucifer submerged within his mercy for years?
A cruel smile crawled across his face as his other hand bypassed the gentle pumping of his other hand, sliding passed Adam’s balls to the first of Lucifer’s gifts since their reunion.
He wondered if it was it HER fingers she wished to bury into Adam’s needy cunt.
Flicking Adam’s clit earned him the gift of that name again. “Luci—-!!! Luci—!”
“Beautiful! So fucking beautiful—-“ Lucifer feasted on Adam’s cries, soon to be muffled by a greedy red tentacle. The squeezing of Adam’s cunt and throat stuttering the king into a blind frenzy.
As enraged as he was, perhaps his Queen could set the example.
Whatever wrongfully ripped from the waters can only be ripped back—-
Adam gazed out from the dim confines of his cave, the salty mist of the ocean gently curling around him, as he released a melancholy sigh. Years had drifted by like the sand on the ocean floor, and in the depths of his heart, he had lost count of how long he had been submerged beneath the waves. The promise that Lucifer had made—binding and unwavering—was now realized: their undersea home, once serene, was now a bustling haven for Krakens. Swarming about him were not just strangers of the deep but his own progeny, countless offspring and grand-offspring that he cherished, each a vibrant testament to his legacy.
Yet, as night cloaked the world outside and silence settled like a thick blanket, Adam often found his thoughts spiraling back to the life he had left behind. The tumultuous echoes of his former existence haunted him during these quiet hours. He recalled the laughter and warmth of those he had loved, the memories that felt like distant stars shimmering just out of reach. Night after night, while the Krakens slumbered or drifted off to their own homes, he couldn't shake the haunting realization that his found family—the one he had forged through trials and triumphs—was likely scattered by the currents of time, their stories entwined with the vast ocean, perhaps long forgotten by the world above.
The sorrow wrapped around him like the very sea that cradled his cave, and despite the love he felt for his undersea family, a deep longing for the days gone by weighed heavily on his heart. In moments of solitude, he grieved for the connections that had faded, leaving only shadows in the depths of his memory.
"My love, what are you doing out here?" Lucifer's deep, resonant voice cut through the tranquil sounds of the ocean. He approached Adam from behind, wrapping his strong, sinuous arms around him in a warm embrace. Adam leaned into the warmth, feeling a rush of affection as he turned to meet Lucifer's gaze.
A soft smile graced Adam's lips, one that held a lifetime of memories. There had been a time, long ago, when he despised the creature that now enveloped him in tenderness. The memories of their horrible past felt like echoes of another life, fading with each passing year. Now, decades later, he found himself utterly captivated by the being before him, his heart swelling with love for the magnificent Kraken.
Being in Lucifer's presence had transformed Adam in ways he could have never imagined. His body had adapted to the depths of the ocean, growing delicate gills on the sides of his neck to breathe freely beneath the waves. His hands and feet had become webbed, enabling him to glide seamlessly through the water, a part of the aquatic world that Lucifer called home. Even his eyes had transformed, shifting to a shimmering slitted gold that caught the light like sunlit ripples on the surface. Every change was a testament to his deep bond with Lucifer. And probably because he had traces of his DNA inside him.
“Just thinking… you said you wanted to talk to me, right?” Adam inquired, his voice cutting through the murky depths as he turned to face Lucifer. The Kraken, usually so imposing and confident, suddenly faltered, his gaze dropping away as if he couldn't bear to meet Adam's eyes. The tension in the water hung thick like a heavy mist, signaling that whatever words were on the tip of Lucifer’s tongue were bound to be complex and laden with unspoken weight.
“My population is up again,” Lucifer finally said, his voice steady but devoid of the usual vibrancy. Adam tilted his head, intrigued yet confused, trying to decipher the meaning behind the cryptic announcement. “Our deal is complete. You no longer need to stay here any longer.”
As those words settled in the space between them, a surge of confusion and disbelief coursed through Adam like a current. Did Lucifer actually mean it? The realization struck him with the force of a sudden tide, leaving him feeling disoriented and unsteady despite being submerged in water. Was he truly just going to dismiss Adam, letting him drift away from the bond they had formed? The thought churned his stomach, twisting it into a knot of nausea and despair.
“Unless you want something different. Jewels? Your own place? Whatever you desire, I’m willing to provide it,” Lucifer remarked, his tone far too casual and seemingly unaware of the storm of emotions raging within Adam.
What did Adam truly want? The answer hit him like a bolt of lightning—he wanted to stay! He longed to be close to his Mate, reveling in that bond that felt so essential to his very being. But then a sudden realization washed over him: they were technically not fully mated yet. It was a crucial detail he had overlooked in the haze of their connection.
When he had received his mating mark, he had been blissfully ignorant of the full implications of that sacred bond. The truth was clear now; the process would not be complete until he took that final, decisive step and claimed Lucifer as his own by biting back.
As these thoughts spiraled in his mind, he glanced at Lucifer, who continued to speak, his demeanor carefree and his gaze diverted elsewhere, not yet meeting Adam’s desperate eyes. The weight of his unspoken feelings felt heavier with each passing moment, as uncertainty gnawed at the edges of his heart. Adam silently grappled with his needs and desires, torn between the instinct to connect and the reality of their incomplete union.
He didn't let Lucifer complete his sentence as he grabbed Lucifer's shoulders and bit his neck. The Kraken stilled as Adam easily broke through the skin. He made sure to clamp down hard, wanting his bite stick and Adam relaxed when he felt hands gently massage his back. "Adam?" Lucifer whimpered out. Adam let go, blood mixing in the water. "Mine. Mate. I want you. If you try to make me leave, I'll just hunt you down again. You don't get to leave me." Adam's form was trembling and that was when Lucifer saw Adam was on the verge of tears.
"My poor Adam." Lucifer said, "Of course I want you to stay." He smirked at Adam and brought him even closer. "Let me prove it to you." Adam's face turned red and he was brought deeper into the cave. It seemed they were going to add more children to their already huge family.
Chapter 13 (Lute) epilogue-
"No more life shall be wasted."
Lute couldn't comprehend how it all unfolded. One moment, she was watching Adam disappear beneath the tumultuous waves of the ocean, her screams swallowed by the crashing storm around her. Panic surged through her as she reached out, desperate to grasp his hand, but the dark, churning water engulfed him. Then, as if pulled from a nightmare, she jolted awake in an unfamiliar place—an ominous, dimly lit cave that felt far removed from the chaos above.
As she blinked vigorously, her surroundings slowly came into focus. The air was damp and heavy, and she could feel a strange buoyancy as if her body was suspended in some fluid yet weighed down by an invisible force. Every movement was labored, sluggish; it was a daunting effort just to lift her head. She grimaced, frustration mingling with fear as she tried to gather her thoughts.
Suddenly, a gentle, soothing voice broke through her confusion, layered with warmth and calm. "Oh, dear. You weren't supposed to wake up yet." Lute turned toward the sound, squinting to make out the silhouette of a woman, her expression both reassuring and filled with concern. The contrast of the calm voice against the chaos of her memories sent a shiver down Lute's spine. Where was she? What had happened to Adam?
Lute stirred groggily, her eyelids fluttering as she tried to grasp her surroundings. "Ugh... mmmmm..." The words tumbled slurred from her lips, barely audible above the hum of an unseen energy pulsing through the air. A woman, unnaturally tall and strikingly thin, leaned over her with an ethereal grace. Her silhouette was shrouded in gentle shadows, accentuating the sharp angles of her cheekbones and the cascading strands of dark hair that framed her face.
Gently, the woman closed Lute’s eyes with a tender touch, a gesture both soothing and foreboding. “You’re a stubborn one, aren’t you?” The woman’s voice danced with amusement, a lilting quality that sent shivers down Lute’s spine. “You woke too soon. The process isn’t complete. If you don’t go back down, the pressure will kill you.”
As Lute felt an unbearable weight pressing against her, her resolve began to wane. The sensation of constriction tightened around her as if the very fabric of reality conspired to pull her under. No matter how hard she struggled, her limbs felt heavy, her thoughts muddled. Soon, the clamor of her protest faded, and she surrendered to the warm embrace of unconsciousness.
In those fleeting moments, before the darkness enveloped her, the last thing that echoed through her mind was the woman’s tantalizing whisper: “I can’t wait to train you.” It hung in the air like a promise, a challenge laced with mystery that resonated even as she slipped away.
Lute's life, along with her sisters, irrevocably changed on that fateful day. No longer were they a carefree crew, sailing the vibrant waters filled with laughter and camaraderie. They had transformed into soldiers, bound by a solemn duty to protect the sea they once roamed so freely. They were an unholy fusion of humanity and marine life—an embodiment of the nightmares they had once hunted. “A mermaid,” Sera had called it, her voice laced with both awe and dread.
For the longest time, Lute had resisted this new identity, desperately clinging to memories of their past adventures. She wanted no part of what she and Adam had fought so hard to eliminate, believing that embracing such a fate would betray everything they stood against. But as she witnessed the consequences of disobedience—vivid nightmares, painful transformations, and the haunting cries of lost souls—she quickly learned the harsh reality of their new existence. The choice was no longer hers; the sea had claimed them, transforming their resistance into a relentless tide of expectation and obligation.
"It's not as bad as you make it out to be, Lute," Clara said, her voice soft and steady, a small smile playing on her lips that contrasted with the tension in the air. Lute stared at her, her eyes wide with disbelief, as if she had just proclaimed the sky was green. "Excuse me? That fish-faced Sera has clearly gotten to you. She's brainwashed you. The Clara I know would never side with the enemy."
Clara winced, her expression a mix of concern and disappointment as if she had anticipated Lute's reaction. "They aren't the enemy, Lute. Yes, they've attacked us... but so have we. We've destroyed so many of their kind in our relentless pursuit... Isn't it only fair to protect what we once hunted?"
Lute's frustration bubbled to the surface, and she let out a low growl, the deep rumble echoing in the charged watery atmosphere between them. The shadows of their past skirmishes loomed large in her mind, and she struggled to reconcile the voices of her sister and her long-held beliefs, torn between the memory of the past and the possibility of understanding the present.
Lute swam away and left Clara by herself. She wouldn't be here any longer and listen to her words.
Lute growled, her voice low and fierce as she hurled her spear to the ground with a clatter, the metal striking the water stone floor with a sharp echo. "I'm done serving you, Sera. Release me now!" Her eyes blazed with defiance, determination coursing through her.
Sera tilted her head slightly, her expression shifting to one of deep sadness as she studied Lute's face. "Lute...haven't we been over this? This is your restitution. You have to—” Her voice was soft, almost soothing, yet laced with the weight of their shared history.
In a moment of desperation, Lute kicked off from the ground, attempting to swim away, but before she could gain any distance, a large yet gentle hand reached out and grasped her arm, pulling her back into the warm embrace of Sera's hold. "I suppose I haven't been spending enough time in our one-on-one sessions with you. I'll rectify that," Sera said, her voice calm but firm.
Lute's eyes widened in fear and resistance, panic flooding her system as she thrashed against Sera’s hold. "No! Let me go!" she cried out, her heart pounding in her chest as she fought against the inevitability of her situation. The tension between them crackled in the air, a battle of wills. She hated goe much she ended up liking this.
"Sh...you've liked it every time." Sera said with a smile, as if reading her thoughts. She pulled her to her face and gently but firmly kissed her. Lute fought to pull away bit eventually succumbed to the feeling as she always did.
When the broke apart, Lute's eyes were cloudly but stared at Sera with some sort of emotion that neither of them could name. Sera bent her over and Lute felt that long thick appendage enter her. The smaller mermaid threw her head back and moaned as she was pegged from behind.
"See? You take it so beautifully! This seemes to be the only thing that gets through to you." Sera said, her soft smile aimed at Lute's pleasured face. "You need a firm hand and you need someone to lead you. Isn't this a better way then to protect what you once hurt so long ago?"
Lute was putty in her arms at this point and when Sera filled her up, she collapsed into her arms, exhausted.
"I wonder why you fight so hard..." Sera murmured as she carried her to her chambers.
Lute could hardly remember the last time she set foot on land. It felt like a distant memory, eclipsed by the embrace of the ocean that had become her true home. Days had melted into weeks, and weeks into months and months into years beneath the shimmering waves, where the sunlight filtered through in dappled patterns if she swam high enough, dancing across the ocean floor.
In her past life, the ocean world had filled her with an inexplicable sense of dread; it seemed foreign and unwelcoming, with its dark depths and the chaotic waves hiding dangerous sea creatures. Now, though, the water wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, a world filled with vibrant life and pulsating energy. The gentle current was her ally, and the myriad creatures she encountered—playful dolphins, graceful sea turtles, sentient sea beings, and iridescent fish—were her companions. They thrived in their underwater paradise, and each one, in its own way, expressed gratitude for her presence, weaving a sense of community that she had never found on land.
The thought of returning to the surface felt utterly dull in comparison. The shimmering depths held a promise of adventure and camaraderie that the harsh terrain above lacked. Life above water seemed monotonous and uninspiring, a reality void of the magic she experienced every day below the waves. What could land possibly offer her that would compare to the vibrant tapestry of the sea?
And then there were her sisters. Their bond transcended the ordinary—a connection forged in shared experiences, laughter, and the protection of their underwater realm. Together, they swirled through the corals, played among the kelp forests, and coiled around the immense cliffs of their ocean home, united in their mission to safeguard their sanctuary. With them by her side, Lute felt invincible; that was all she truly needed.
Some chose to leave after their service. Lute chose to stay.
Sera was the steadfast leader of their group, her presence commanding yet comforting. With a gentle authority, she had a remarkable ability to rein them in whenever their antics became too rough or unruly. Lute found herself longing for Sera’s warm, reassuring touch; the way she would offer a gentle pat on the head or a soft stroke of her hair felt like a soothing balm to Lute's restless spirit. Before Sera entered her life, everything felt muted and gray—an existence filled with ambiguity and loneliness. Not even Adam, whom she met occasionally and who had tried to do the same albeit in more platonic way, couldn't hold a candle to the vibrant essence of Sera, the enchanting mermaid whose laughter seemed to brighten the darkest corners of Lute's world.
In her heart, Lute would willingly lay down her life for Sera without hesitation. Yet, Sera often reminded her, with a knowing smile and a tinge of seriousness, that self-care was equally important. “You can’t pour from an empty cup, Lute,” she would say, urging her to prioritize her own well-being amidst the whirlwind of emotions that surrounded their bond. This delicate balance of admiration and care created a rich tapestry of feelings that Lute was learning to navigate, one day at a time.
And as Adam would say, "No more life shall be wasted."
She didn't get it then, but she does now.
"Lute?" A hand patted her hair and Lute purred at the attention Sera was giving her. "You've done so well today." Lute was brought in close. Why don't I reward that?" Lute blushed and she was bent over to be taken right there.
This was her life. And she never wanted it to change.
And it’s finally finished!
Adam’s crew’s fate was his decision. After the near attempt on their child and finally accepting his feelings did Adam make his first degree as Queen.

but I tried. If some parts sound different they are mainly the additional side stories I wrote for it to go along with Libby’s.
I hope you all enjoyed this!
This was so much fun to develop with Libby. Thank you so much for giving life to my silly ideas!
