I don’t really publicly wax sentimental about the people I care about but mirène imwhispering is one of my favorite people in the whole world and honestly you should follow them if you want yr dashboard to be 20% brighter (or darker, when they post beautiful sunsets) this post didn’t actually start out as a promo, mirène’s just a beautiful enough person that the only way to accurately illustrate this to you was to recommend you visit and/or follow their blog, given that it contains such a well-contained facsimile of their essence as a person just trust me on this

there's a reason there's no knife through the comic. I hate what the film and the guy fawkes mask have been made to symbolize? especially the mask, being a symbol of Anonymous. it's symbology based on flawed understanding, in a way. Anonymous uses guy fawkes masks because of the ending of the film where (SPOILER) the entire population puts on V's costume in an "No I'm Spartacus" moment of solidarity, that we are all fighting for the same thing V was fighting for. which is even worse in the film than it is in the comic, and forms a lot of the inspiration for Anonymous' actions (including their recent raid on tumblr). the film's technically more at fault—tho I don't blame the Wachowskis, I'm pretty sure it's executive meddling, see also: the Evey/V relationship being romantic? which it explicitly wasn't in the comic, and for very good reason—but the mask is a symbol of the hipocrisy and superflawed philosophy of the people who use it as a symbol, especially with no goddamn knowledge of who Guy Fawkes was or that he's very intentionally a symbol deprived of context in V for Vendetta itself! like, I can't tell you how anti-Anonymous Guy Fawkes would be. not that he's a good person (at all, don't fucking blow up a bunch of people just because you disagree with them to "make a statement") I'm just saying that the irony there is just kind of ridiculous meanwhile the comic is an intentionally flawed depiction of fascism vs. anarchy and (forgive me if this is incorrect or imprecise but I haven't read it in a while) is explicitly pro-queer and semi-implicitly anti-patriarchy? and while V's ideals and methods are flawed (albeit less flawed than the fascist state's), the movement that comes out of them seems to be a good one. it's not a bunch of white "anarchist" bros, which is what Anonymous basically is.
