HOW TO BECOME FAT
(from the Ashmole translation of Secretum Secretorum)
I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome
like its not that serious etc but any time u express frustration or just point out wow people in fandom continuously prioritize men over women Here comes the fucking misogyny hydra
"maybe you should stop complaining and just make the content you want to see" perhaps, the issue at hand, is that the proportion of people who are willing to be invested in female characters and create content centering them is already small compared to the people who will create novel-length backstories for male characters with 5 minutes of screentime, meaning that even if all people involved put in the same amount of effort, the amount of content around men will always be orders of magnitude larger, and perhaps the disproportionate focus on men in the first place may be indicative of some kind of pre-existing bias, one that may, hypothetically speaking, have some name already,
in response to people saying things like "men aren't allowed to cry in public, unlike women" other people will then say things like "women are penalized, not rewarded, for public displays of emotion—the fact that women are presumed to be overly emotional & irrational is misogyny, not a privilege"
which is often true but like, it's contextual innit. lest we discount the phenomenon of White Woman Tears
I've recently had white women in professional contexts tell me that they were quote "hurt" and "gutted" by what amounted to very minor professional faux pas on my part. I remember reading a white woman academic's essay on Jane Eyre that began with recounting her emotional upset upon having Jane Eyre "taken away from her" by postcolonial / anti-racist scholarship. white women's emotions do have currency in personal and professional spaces in selective contexts, i.e. when wielded against people of colour 🤷🏽♀️
i always feel like jesus on my period, walking around town with my gaping wound….
Okay but like??? Let’s not romanticize being high all the time????? Even if weed is not as lethal or as dangerous as heroin we should not be promoting it????? Is this your first day on earth????? 💀
i was finna ask u the same thing tbh
SIMPLE GUIDE:
Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc
Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc
NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.
(Modified) from my comment left on this post.
''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
the more you twist yourself into a pretzel to avoid regret the harder it will hit when it eventually catches up to you.
will the owner of the goalpost out in the bailey please move it down the slippery slope towards the middle ground where a strawman is currently begging the question. we have a bandwagon waiting to help you, unless youre too much of an uneducated dipshit to handle any of that, in which case we can circle back to a true scotsman who will be able to appeal to our authority.
"Accusations of rape ruin men's lives and careers."
You only have to look at how many footballers who have rape accusations against them that happily represent their countries in huge tournaments like the World Cup without anyone really giving a shit to see what bollocks that is.
Women are rarely taken seriously, rarely believed, rarely stood up for, especially when their abusers are rich and famous.
2026 FIFA World Cup players who’ve been accused of rape and/or physical abuse:
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Thomas Partey (Ghana), Gonzalo Montiel (Argentina), Thiago Almada (Argentina), Junya Ito (Japan), Kaishu Sano (Japan), Ryan Mendes (Cabo Verde).
At least one of these men, Thomas Partey, is currently actively awaiting criminal trial on seven charges of rape and sexual assault but was still able to play at one of the largest sporting events in the world.
This is why I was so [ ] about that "your body knows whether or not you have a uterus," like, yes, that's very transmisogynistic, but it's also like reading, "As a feminist, naturally I don't think girls should be taught to read." HELP? HELLO?
Multiocular O (ꙮ) is a rare Cyrillic glyph found in a single 15th-century manuscript, in the Old Church Slavonic phrase серафими многоꙮчитїи (serafimi mnogoočitii, “many-eyed seraphim”). It was documented in 1928 by Yefim Karsky in a Psalter dated to around 1429, now preserved at the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius.
The many-eyed letter in the original manuscript
The character was encoded as U+A66E in Unicode 5.1 (2008). The original Unicode reference glyph showed eight circles, but the historical manuscript contains ten. In 2022, the Unicode chart was corrected to reflect the ten-circle design, though some fonts may still display the earlier version.

if you want to piss off a man just call him an "average he/him user" it's got a 3/3 success rate for me
this also works wonders
nobel prize in posting
second update to this today but she just started long form posting to substack. some excerpts:
no one is doing it like her. no one else ever should. here's a link to the whole thing
Picture it: You’re a non-trans girl and you’ve met a stunning, charming, brilliant transgender.
in my view the central joke of halimede is that even our most fervent and passionate advocate is still banally transmisogynistic, which in her case manifests as ever-present condescension, self-aggrandizement and sexual entitlement. i think about this one a lot:
spectacular. transcendent, if you'll allow me. borderline blanchardian. denying trans women agency in their own sexual proclivities. for her to be a bottom is aberrant, it must be a product of trauma, something to be fixed, and something that only coincidentally makes her un-useful to halimede. it's so dark
I think this is my favorite Halimede tweet. Starts off painfully real, touching, even. Then a sickening turn at the end that recontextualizes the whole thing. Plunges it all straight into hell
I absolutely love how she can post things like this, which dare I say is good analysis of the effects of transmisogyny
And then post stuff like this
couple more for da pile
